Good morning, Frances @EvisonFrances & thank you, very belatedly on my part, I'm afraid. I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. Here's a Hampshire based painting for you: "Keyhaven" by Walter Steggles from the late 1970s or early to mid 1980s. #WalterSteggles #SundayMorning

Lovely in Hampshire, too; just off to re-enact this scene in my own living room.

'Aerodrome.' (1941) Eric Ravilious had often depicted the back gardens and greenhouses of middle-class pre-war England. The positioning of the war plane, flags and aerodome at the back of this composition is a deliberate device to minimise the destructive reality of the war.

That is so sad Rosie. Heartbreaking, after a life of helping so many others. If there is anything I can do DM me. There is always a way.

@CastletonLee Beautiful. You keep on trucking Lee. If I could bottle a tiny bit of your strength, kindness, humility I would. I lost my husband and am now, a year later facing eviction and ageism in the rental market and nobody wants an old lady with cat. I am writing about it.

Dishonesty in court is [ unsurprisingly ] common but you would expect a solicitor to know the risks. In this case he is ordered to pay around £28,500 in costs, loose ex his job more. Justice demands the highest of standards. lawgazette.co.uk/news/solici…

Cleaning the streets of London in the morning sun. A cleaner using a jet washer in Granary Square, King’s Cross as the sunlight lights up the spray. Who knew that cleaning the streets of London could be so picturesque?

Disappointing although I must admit, when hosting a delegation to wind farm training facilities… we had to hire in ( even worse I checked the language - corrected to “obviously”…
thetimes.com/article/602d70f… The delegation had noted that “none of those with whom China engages at a senior level in the UK government are Chinese speakers, or have any significant experience of living or working in China”.

In a previous life, I worked in the London Metropolitan Police Strategic Insight Unit (SIU). We did lots of excellent research, and most never got released publicly... except I've just found lots of it was FOI'd! I've collected it all here, hope it's useful! andreasthinks.me/posts/siu-r…

Ah yes, Lin @lou_chatfield how true. On a couple of good days recently we took advantage of the weather & walked along the front at Mudeford: it was glorious. Here's Harold Steggles' archive photo of St Mary's Church at Badley in Suffolk from 1936. #HaroldSteggles #SundayMorning

Two caveats - People are deprived of their liberty when they are placed in care homes all the time. The “unlawful” here is about a process of authorisation to be complied with - No outsider knows the truth of whether or not the attorney is making decisions in RF’s best interests

In my professional life I acted in many conflicts between later life partners and children of an earlier relationship over care of an ageing parent or inheritance after death. A law to “better empower” family control of a parent’s chosen partner is neither practical nor desirable
It is truly shocking how frequently elderly people end up abused and robbed, their children disinherited, at the hands of manipulative late-life new partners. The law should be changed explicitly to better empower children, grandchildren, relatives or friends to intervene.

I'm getting sick of this targeting and slagging off sitting Judges who cannot constitutionally answer back. If Mr Goodwin can show Judge Ikram misapplied the principles of the bail act he is welcome to make that argument and the Defendant here has a right to appeal the bail decision to Crown Court. As a matter of fact Judge Ikram, from what I can see, lawfully applied the "reasonable prospect of a custodial sentence" exception to bail and if he is wrong about that the proper course is not to provide a running commentary on active proceedings, but to allow his Counsel to persuade the Crown Court of that submission.
