She is such an incredible talent
ROSALĂA reveals the risks she took when creating âLUXâ and admits there was concern about the albumâs commercial potential:
âMaking an orchestral album might not guarantee instant success when you release it. There was no guarantee of a return on the investment for the whole team, but this was what I wanted to explore. For me, itâs very important to listen to whatever gives me that feeling of âYes, this is the pathâ. Itâs always something very instinctive, intuitive, something that comes from the gut.
I think there was this general feeling of panic because it was taking a long time and it might not have been obvious that there would be a hit. But in retrospect, you see that with âBerghainâ⊠maybe nobody really believed in the song, but it ended up working.
People reacted to the song, and thatâs amazing. I think thatâs the beauty of it, because you never know. You really never know. So the only thing you can do is be true to how you feel and trust your intuition.
I donât try to convince anyone. I donât say anything, I just work. I go to the studio, I show up, I show up, I show up. And once I have the music, I share it, and thatâs it. And if one day the charts donât speak for me, thatâs okay too.â
No wayâŠI thought it would never come tbh but if it does Iâm excited!!
âNow they call me Diamond Black!
Youâll get to know me soonâŠâ đ omg

People were trying to tell me Popstar was inspired by "C, XOXO" đ
The C XOXO revisionism is the worst thing to happen in 2026. It sounded horrible the day it dropped and it still does. It didn't influence shit. The album by itself exemplifies how NOT to use one's influences.

Today, 29 years ago, Janet Jackson released her magnum opus, The Velvet Rope.
Her most introspective and personal work, the concept album fused R&B and pop with trip-hop, dance, folk, jazz, rock, and techno, creating one of the most adventurous sonic statements of her career.
Ellen von Unwerth photographed Janet for the albumâs artwork, with additional photography by Mario Testino.

Probably going to be completely overlooked by the media but today is the 200th birthday of photography as a medium and thatâs pretty cool

An artist whose album spoke about g*n violence, racism, homelessness, escapism, loneliness, depression while being a cohesive sound of work VS Samsung ringtones

I'm sorry, but this is like comparing apples and oranges. One slowly placed five culturally indelible hits into the top 5 over the course of a nearly three year album campaign, the other is exploiting a deeply flawed system with many songs most non-diehards will forget next week.
