Russia has renewed its offer of the Izdeliye 177S engine for India’s Su-30MKI fleet during President Putin’s recent visit to India, putting propulsion at the centre of discussions around the Super Sukhoi upgrade plan. 🇮🇳🇷🇺 Su-30MKI currently uses the AL-31FP, producing 123 kN AB and 76 kN dry thrust. Its Total Technical Life was recently extended by HAL from 2,000 to 2,500 flying hours. The 177S can deliver 142 kN AB and 88 kN dry thrust, around 16% higher AB thrust, along with a 6,000-hour service life and lower fuel consumption.

With engine supply issues being streamlined & integration issues nearing resolution, HAL have capacity to produce 24-30 Tejas Mk1As annually across 03 divisions. Assembly has also been outsourced to Pvt partners, helping HAL meet the order delivery by FY2032-33. 🇮🇳
