stand behind this and you're dead 💀
Fire → cartridge base blows out → gas splits → shell goes forward, gas jets out the back → recoil cancelled.
The price: a backblast dangerous 30 m behind.
An IAF C-17 in Abuja looked "all taped up". Worn out? No.
1 - Those patches: peeling paint, the photographer later agreed
2 - Airliners use speed tape for this. A 787-9 wing, taped so paint won't peel
3 - An A321 nose
Aluminium tape, holds at 900+ km/h 🇮🇳

27 October 1947. Raiders were closing in on Srinagar. That morning, 1 SIKH flew in from Delhi and went straight into battle.
Their CO, Lt Col Dewan Ranjit Rai, fell that same day holding them off near Baramulla: independent India's first Maha Vir Chakra. (1/5)

Every 27 October, the Army Chief lays a wreath for the infantry's fallen. The day marks the first troops who landed in Srinagar in 1947.

It has no recoil: the blast vents out the back. Never stand behind it.
This is the Carl Gustaf, an 84 mm Swedish recoilless rifle, in service since 1948. India has made it under licence since 1976. Next: 450 M4s, to be built in Haryana.
Rating: 9/10

Why the Tavor's magazine sits behind the trigger 🔬
Trigger → long trigger bar → hammer → firing pin → gas → piston → rotating bolt → next round.
Its barrel is 42 mm longer than the AK-203's, yet the rifle is 22 cm shorter. Para SF and MARCOS carry it. 🇮🇳
Varanasi, 25 Oct: 94 aircraft over the Ganga for IAF's 94th year. Most formations named after Shiva and Kashi.
1. Neelkanth: 3 Rafale
2. Vishwanath: 3 Su-30MKI
3. Pashupati: 4 Jaguar
4. Mahadev: IL-78 + 3 Mirage 2000

Why a rifle bullet spins about 3,000 times a second 🔬
Primer → powder → gas → bullet into the bore → rifling grips it → spin → straight flight.
AK rifling turns once every 240 mm. Leave the muzzle at 715 m/s and that's ~3,000 spins a second. 🇮🇳
Slithering needs at least 3 men: one flies, one holds the rope steady, one slides down.
1 - ALH Dhruv by HAL. Flew to 27,500 ft in Siachen in 2007. IAF's Sarang team flies it too
2 - Down the rope, no harness
3 - First man down holds it for the next

Viral this week: Indian and PLA troops face to face on a misty LAC ridge. Date and spot: unconfirmed.
On record: ITBP chief says Arunachal face-offs are still on. MEA: trouble starts when the PLA "diverges from established patrolling patterns".
PLA, need a compass? 🧭
How the AK-203 "Sher" reloads itself in a tenth of a second 🔬
Trigger → hammer → firing pin → gas → piston → rotating bolt → next round.
Made in Amethi. 700 rounds a minute. 🇮🇳
Best wishes to All Ranks, Veterans and families of National Security Guard on the occasion of 42nd Raising Day ❤️
सर्वत्र सर्वोत्तम सुरक्षा 🇮🇳
