#JWST is in focus, Almost every dot seen in the alignment image is a distant galaxy. We will see these fields of galaxies almost anywhere we point the telescope.

I don't post much astrophotography since I mostly do visual and sketching now, but this image of the horsehead and flame nebulae from back in Jan. 2016 is still one of my favorite images. I don't remember the details, but it was a modded 350D on an Omni XLT 150.

#singleuseplastic #McDonalds Why has my local McDonald's in Florida started serving drinks in PLASTIC? As if their continued use of plastic straws wasn't bad enough. Shame on you McDonald's. #BoycottMcDonalds

The launch of Webb slips four days. Merry Christmas, everyone!
UPDATE: @NASAWebb is now targeted to launch no earlier than Dec. 22 to allow additional testing after a sudden, unplanned release of a clamp that secures the spacecraft to its rocket adapter sent vibrations throughout the observatory: blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2021/11/…

Someone please look at this graph and tell me when the "right time" is to make regulations for satellites in space is? Asking for a certain species that lives on a certain planet. cc: @sethajacobson

Join AAS for FREE as we learn more about the DART Mission with field experts! Our next “Future in Space” online discussion, will be held this Thursday, November 11th at 3:00 PM EST. @DeepAstronomy #DART #space #exploration Event link: youtu.be/CIvW8TR5gHk
Another issue with the naming of @NASAWebb is the central involvement of @esa in the instrumentation, science, and launch. Our colleagues and collaborators in Europe are entrusting @nasa to make a careful consideration here, and we're blowing it.

What if instead of an elevator we just were able to get a little room on cables that could go up and down between floors?
