Thought provoking presentation by Dr Danah Abdulla last night: "Imagining Otherwise" 🙃🙃🙃 at our weekly Methods of Intent series + nice slides + great literature recommendations (I rarely see anyone recommend Gloria Anzaldúa in the UK). @DecolDesign @RCACommResearch

Finally got round to listening to this fantastic discussion between @jarrettfuller + @DecolDesign. Talking all sorts - from student led learning to the abolishment of limiting design titles.
This week, @jarrettfuller is joined by designer, educator, and research Danah Abdulla to talk about localizing design education, decolonizing design, and multidisciplinary practice! scratchingthesurface.fm/post…

Unfortunately @aansari86 cannot deliver his talk today @ #PapanekSymposium, so the @DecolDesign crew are reading a statement now & sharing a link to the full paper PDF. Ah, the irony of the very real impacts of the "real world" at a design symposium on the "Real World".

Most recently, the Dutch bureau of statistics is beginning to create a database tracking 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation migrants, and they are all classified as non Dutch. This was supposed to be an improvement on a previous tracking system, but an 'offensive term' was replaced...

"Good intentions are not enough." There is a strong need to do the work, do the community organizing, develop better tools and methods to be used in design workshops, events, projects, etc... Also connect across different but like-minded groups, like @DecolDesign, & others.
