this IS policing. this is who the cops are.
how much more money will we keep pouring into this murderous institution until more people realize that you can't reform or "fix" something that is doing exactly what it was set up to do? there is no reforming this. defund and abolish

Remember that time I told y’all Interim Chief Davis is a LIAR. Aw ok.
Thanks for proving my point @LucasFinton
Chief Davis in January said she had enforced the pretextual stop ordinance as a policy mandate since it was passed, despite Strickland saying it was not enforced. I obtained a policy change document that says it didn’t get signed until Jan. 25 this year.

Instead of investing in communities our city council wants to adopt policing approaches from Atlanta. The APD model is a model of surveillance & police brutality. And Atlanta is using their police foundation to build #CopCity
Is that what this new council wants for Memphis?

Tyre was 29 when Memphis police tragically murdered him. I turned 29 yesterday. In this last year, our community in Memphis has fought for just laws and for justice to prevail for his family. The terror of police violence must end. @phillej_ huffpost.com/entry/tyre-nich…

In DC, researchers found that red light cams were systemically concentrated in Black communities, resulting in more tickets for Black drivers. Meanwhile there’s no evidence Black drivers speed/drive differently than anyone else. This is systemic racism. dcpolicycenter.org/publicati…
I'm sometimes asked, "Why are you against woke? Woke just means not being racist!"
Not being racist isn't woke; that's just being a decent human. Woke is thinking that cameras designed to catch people running red lights are actually racist. That's the crazy that I'm against.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Red light cameras were placed by the majority black DC city council in areas that had the most speeding related incidents to make intersections safer for the minorities that lived there.

This is a geography lesson for Senator Brent Taylor since he doesn’t know where Eads, TN.
Memphians are tired of you false claiming and acting like you know what we want. Memphis has always mattered to us and unlike you we don’t have to say it everyday to convince ourselves.
