November is #AdoptASeniorPetMonth and we would like to introduce you to a very special gentleman... Moe, a ten-year-old Maltese (#PM8831) who's looking for his hero. ❤️ Moe has spent his entire life in a commercial breeding facility, where even his most basic needs were neglected. Instead of knowing the warmth of a loving home, gentle hands, and the comfort of being someone’s family, Moe has only known a life of hardship. Now, at 10 years old and under 10 pounds, Moe is facing more challenges than any dog should have to endure. Years without proper medical care have left him with several serious medical conditions, including cataracts, a collapsing trachea, a heart murmur and he has unfortunately tested positive for heartworm disease. We know this is a lot to take on, but we also know Moe is worth every bit of love and care he needs. ❤️ Despite everything he has been through, Moe still has so much love to give. He enjoys being gently petted and is slowly learning that human hands can bring comfort instead of fear. He needs a patient, experienced adopter who understands that trust takes time and will allow him to feel safe at his own pace. Moe would do well with a confident canine companion in the home to show him the ropes, but it is not a requirement for adoption.  To help support Moe’s ongoing care, the costs associated with managing his collapsing trachea and heart murmur will be covered, provided he receives his veterinary care through our Pet Health Centers. Moe has spent 10 years waiting for a life he never knew existed. A soft bed, a gentle touch, a family to call his own. Things that so many dogs take for granted would mean the world to him. If you can be the hero Moe has been waiting for, please contact our Port Washington, NY Adoption Center to learn more about giving this deserving senior the home he has always deserved. #GetYourRescueOn #AdoptMoe

Maya is a NATURAL adventurer! 🐾❤️ Just look at her go! Our 9-month-old Australian Cattle Dog/Pitbull Mix (She's DNA-tested!), Maya #NCR8762, joined volunteer Kim and our Gift Officer Lara for an Adventure Club outing, and she absolutely CRUSHED it! From exploring to soaking up all the attention, Maya was in her element. At 50 pounds, this girl is full of love and even more personality! Maya was adopted as a puppy, but after a few months, she found herself back with us when things weren't quite the right fit. Now, she's hoping to find the family she's been waiting for. The good news? Maya has SO much going for her! She's incredibly sweet, LOVES people, and is already housebroken and crate trained. She walks great on leash and knows a few of her basic cues! She'd do best in a home without cats, with children ages 10+, and any potential canine siblings would need to meet her prior to adoption. Maya is just 9 months old and has a whole lifetime of adventures ahead of her. All she's missing is someone to share them with. Could you be her person? 🥹💗 📍 Meet Maya at North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington, NY! #GetYourRescueOn #AdventureClub
