Apparently, the audio was bad in the former post. Here is the clip
I won't lie, I am in awe of the traction this clip from my new film BOYS DON'T SING is gathering. It's a film that explores male loneliness and friendship. #BoysDontSing

Why El Nino gotta sound so cute? If something is terrible I prefer they sound as they seem. In Agbara Nla every supposedly evil character has very dreadful names. Ishawuru and that ayamatanga tell you don't come close.

A very good read but how do I recommend it to friends without sending the wrong message? The book itself isn't for stupid people but how do you begin to explain that?

I’ve been promoting my stage play, The Greatest Actor Of All Time, against all odds. The odds being that I haven’t met the threshold of tickets and all my sponsors have pulled out this week. The show is on Sunday. I’m tired but we move.
You people should give me gist, what is happening in your life?

Need female indie authors to decenter Nigerian men in our literature. There are more pressing issues to be written about and yes, I won’t be the one writing it but I will be reading it. Spotlight Disability, bad governance, bad policies affect women or at least write about Women😩

Wait! Did you just finished watching Sọ̀kò Sọ́jà on YouTube? Both Alápini and Lálùdé are in the movie. Beautiful storyline. I don't know how Segbowe was able to infuse comedy into such a serious theme. I don laugh tire 🤣
PUT ALAPINI AND LALUDE IN ANY MOVIE, AND DRAMA IS GUARANTEED! The moment these two legends disagree over something, you already know the movie is about to enter another level. 😂 Their chemistry, delivery, facial expressions and pure mastery of the craft? Different level! Two legends who know exactly how to make every scene memorable. 🎬👏🏿 Alapini + Lalude = Instant gbas gbos! 🤣🤣🔥 LEGENDS 🚶🏿‍♂️

Btw. We are giving out a new Canon camera better than the Eos R on the 26th of September. It’s now how to decide that it gets to a creator through raffle of those who bought tickets. Maybe we tell creators to indicate their tickets code and we use for raffle that day for just the camera bit. I donno yet sha
Might just give out my Canon Eos R as a seed into someone’s life.

As a Nigerian Publisher, author, editor and someone who has been in the literary space for over a decade and half, here's what I think: All books deserve to be published, for the same reason that people have freedom of speech. However, publishers have a responsibility to think about the impact of what they release. But we also need to eat 😭. At the end of the day, it’s less about censoring entire books and more about publishers being intentional about what they choose to put their name behind. Gatekeeping, which you are proposing, is as damaging as irresponsible publishing ( if not worse). Scholarship (and readers) need variety ie. different perspectives, schools of thought, points of view, experiences, and even ideas we may strongly disagree with. If only a narrow group (in this case - Nigerian publishers) gets to decide what is “worthy” of being published, we risk creating a literary ecosystem where the same ideas keep circulating and reinforcing each other. Good scholarship should give us room to question, challenge, disagree, and discover. Variety doesn’t mean every idea is equally valid; it means there should be enough intellectual diversity for ideas to actually be tested. Otherwise, we’re not protecting scholarship. Instead, we’re just deciding in advance what scholarship or shared knowledge should look like. And that poses even greater problems for us.
Publishers have a responsibility to the public. Knowing how much books & creative materials can change perception over time, they ought to know that not all books in their entirety needs to be published. But then again, Nigerian publishers need money so they won't even care.💀
