It is an honor to officially welcome all delegates, financiers, and business leaders to the 19th COMESA Business Forum and Exhibition! To everyone visiting our beautiful country: welcome to your home away from home.
Running under the theme βOne Market, One Future: Advancing Inclusive Industrialisation, Investment and Regional Integration in COMESA,β the Forum and Exhibition showcase innovations across priority regional value chains, including green industries, leather and circular economies, agriculture, manufacturing, and technology, reflecting COMESAβs commitment to integration, competitiveness, and inclusive growth.
The timing of this forum is critical. Every strategy we drive this week is rooted in a resolute effort to secure a better life for all our people and fulfill our continent's true potential.
β’ Value Addition & Beneficiation: The private sector must move beyond exporting raw materials. We must add value right here in Africaβfocusing heavily on agro-processing, leather, cotton, and the battery value chain.
β’ Cross-Border Collaboration: True integration means a Zimbabwean agro-processor seamlessly partnering with a Zambian counterpart to supply the region.
β’ Borders as Bridges, Not Bottlenecks: Our borders must connect us, not divide us. The modernization of the Beitbridge Border Post stands as a testament to Zimbabwe's commitment to flawless logistics and free-flowing cross-border trade.
β’ Leveraging the AfCFTA: COMESA serves as the vital building block for the wider African Continental Free Trade Area market.
To the captains of industry and financiers: I invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Government relies on your feedback to ensure your capital is safe, secure, and productive. Zimbabwe is ready to partner with you across agriculture, mining, manufacturing, energy, ICT, and pharmaceuticals.
Let us develop powerful networks, tear down trade barriers, and turn the vast opportunities across COMESA states into tangible business outcomes.

Zimbabwe has taken a significant step towards modernising its postal and logistics sector with the launch of a drone delivery initiative by the Zimbabwe Posts (Zimpost), opening a new chapter in the countryβs efforts to harness technology to improve service delivery towards attainment of Vision 2030. Unveiled during World Post Day commemorations in Bambadzi, Bulilima District, Matabeleland South, the initiative seeks to address the challenges of delivering parcels to remote and underserved communities.
The launch featured a drone delivering a parcel from Bambadzi Business Centre to Masendu Digital Centre, demonstrating the potential of aerial technology to complement traditional transport. Internationally, Rwanda and Ghana have used drones to deliver medical supplies to hard-to-reach areas, while Australia has adopted them for selected commercial deliveries, offering valuable lessons for Zimbabwe.
The initiativeβs success will depend on affordability, aviation safety, operational reliability and customer demand. By starting with selected routes and assessing costs and benefits, Zimpost could develop a sustainable delivery service that improves access to postal services and strengthens Zimbabweβs logistics network. Its all the best to the Zimpost team!!!

NDS2 πβ‘ EDUCATION 5.0 IN ACTION: CUT TURNS KNOWLEDGE INTO INNOVATION! πΏπΌ
Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) is demonstrating the power of Heritage-Based Education 5.0 through a modified Datsun 120Y fitted with a fully electric engine.
CUT attachΓ© Hillary Mudangwe explains how the innovation works, showcasing how Zimbabwean universities can transform classroom knowledge and research into practical, homegrown technological solutions.
The project reflects Education 5.0βs focus on teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialisation β developing graduates who do not just seek jobs, but create solutions, enterprises and employment.
Electric vehicle technology also opens opportunities for local engineering, skills development, cleaner transport and reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels.

There is something deeply moving about watching a mother hold her child again after months or years of pain, worry and uncertainty. The tears, tight embraces and joy on their faces tell stories that words can hardly express.
In those moments, we are reminded that no matter how difficult the journey has been, hope can still find its way home. Today, at our Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Mbare, we witnessed emotional reunions as parents welcomed their children back into their arms.
Beyond the tears of joy was the hope of healing, rebuilding trust and starting afresh as families. Our children need love, understanding and support to find their way back. Let us never give up on them, because every life matters and every family deserves a chance to heal.
