Famed soprano Martina Arroyo has died. She was 90. With her luminous voice and ease on stage, the Harlem native broke barriers as one of the first major Black opera stars in the 1960s and 1970s. She was also familiar to the nation's TV viewers at the time as a frequent guest on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show." In 2013, she was honored by the Kennedy Center, just one of her many awards. Arroyo announced her retirement in 1989 and devoted herself to teaching.

There's over 4,000 confirmed cases of measles nationwide, which is the highest annual total in decades. Just to be perfectly clear, measles is a completely preventable disease. The US officially declared measles eliminated back in 2000, so the fact that it's returned to multi-decade highs is a colossal public health failure for our country. RFK is the current leader of the federal agency responsible for solving this crisis... and he has a long history of downplaying the severity of measles, and casting doubt on the measles vaccine.
