Lessons with a Donkey: 2-7 NL Single Draw
@DeathDonkey stops by to help review a NL 2-7 SD hand @AlecTorelli posted recently playing on @PhenomPokerApp. We use @studflopdraw Pro to look at the endgame solutions.

Tough quiz (can see by the answers that all 3 are getting picked) and it doesn’t specify depth so I’ll assume 100 bb no ante. I’m pretty confident the answer is KKT5 one suit. Just think about which hand hates getting 4 bet the most.

This is way outside of my normal topics but I read an incredible Pulitzer Prize winning article on this subject many years ago that completely changed my thoughts on this sad sad subject: pulitzer.org/winners/gene-we…

Time to announce our second co-coach for BTG’s upcoming third season: @KRabichow 💚
Kevin - a BTG member since day one - has been a professional poker player since 2007. Kevin has earned over $1,000,000 in online heads-up cash games and cashed for more than $7,000,000 combined in live and online MTTs.
Alongside competing at the highest stakes, Kevin has produced hundreds of popular training videos with Run It Once and GTO Wizard over the past decade. Since launching his private coaching business in 2020, Kevin has dedicated the majority of his time to helping poker players realize their full potential.
Today, Kevin commentates for the Triton Super High Roller Series and continues to mentor a small number of 1-1 clients each year.
We're excited to have Kevin as a co-coach for the upcoming season of BTG!
I hear this a lot. Of course yes I want to “flip” vs this player. You want every +ev spot if you are properly rolled. You lose, rebuy! Now a fish on your direct right has more chips to win. Someone is gonna stack this guy, it’s a race to see who!

Fold! Do you really want to flip versus a player in which you have a big skill edge against. My advice would be to wait for a better, high equity spot.

For the entire existence of Beyond The Game, Phil has been the sole coach in the program. For the upcoming season, we’re changing that and introducing *six* new co-coaches (while keeping the price the same). The co-coaches aren’t a substitute for Phil; they are new voices offering different lenses and fresh ideas so that each year at BTG is uniquely valuable.
To kick off our coach reveals, we’re thrilled to introduce a legend of the high-stakes mixed game streets: Chris “DeathDonkey” Vitch.
Chris has been a professional poker player for over two decades, beginning his career in Limit Hold’em before transitioning into the full spectrum of mixed games.
A three-time WSOP bracelet winner with extensive experience both online and live, Chris has long been a fixture in the high-stakes mixed game community. Over the years he has produced training content, coached more than 100 students, and continually refined his approach through study with some of the game’s sharpest minds.
Known for his technical precision and deep understanding of multiple poker variants, Chris brings a solver-informed, fundamentally grounded perspective to every game he plays.

I’ve been a BTG member for 2 years & had the most profitable 2 years of my life while playing fewer hours, grown my coaching business, & been calmer & happier than ever. In season 3 I will be a BTG coach, if you are interested in joining speak to me offline for any questions.
We’ve had a lot of requests for a shorter commitment, so for our upcoming third season, we are introducing a 6-month membership option for the first time ($4,500)!
Are you a mid/high-stakes player or a high performer in another field? Curious, kind, and motivated to reach your full potential? Willing to share openly and commit to six months of real work and accountability?
A BTG membership includes:
🔸 Weekly live group coaching (3 sessions/month led by @PhilGalfond, 1 by a guest coach hand-picked by Phil)
🔸Access to a private community of vetted, ambitious people like you
🔸 Curated peer teams for week-to-week progress
🔹 ...and a lot more that we don't advertise!
Applications for our final onboarding of the year are open throughout August: ➡️ galfond.link/more
I’m thinking of trying some new group poker coaching zoom calls this fall. Low price point with focus on fundamentals. Probably one hour per call. If you *might* be interested in signing up please use the poll to help me plan.
We all know already @Ali_Nejad and @NickSchulman are the best in the business, but adding @JasonKoon is fantastic. As a player I love to hear the expertise and questions these world class players ask each other and Jason is good at putting himself in the shoes of the amateur too

It’s crazy that @DeathDonkey YouTube channel has less than 1k subscribers. If you have any desire to get better at mix games his channel has excellent content. I really enjoyed his video on 5-Card PLO. Watch 📺 -> youtu.be/qtY8Q2OnWnU?is=6pCE…
My WSOP comes to an end with a min cash in the super turbo NLH. Makes 13 cashes, 12 of them in big bet! Very proud of myself for showing up & fighting everyday, was buried before the main with 4 soft bubbles in 10k events and the ppc. Finished strong with back to back 4ths in plo
This too. I sat down at my day 4 table (7 off the $) and had multiple people openly begging for us to play very slowly. They had 30 bb btw and were a stone lock to cash. 6/9 people at the table stalled the first hand, none of them were short.

Well said. Only thing is i think clock starting after dinner day 3 is best to prevent massive pre bubble stalling
