Simcoa is stopping US sales after duties of roughly 40% made the market commercially unviable. A reminder for exporters: market access can change quickly. Diversification isn’t just about growth. It’s about resilience. How resilient is your business to a sudden change in trade policy? #GlobalTrade

That feeling when you meet people in the flesh for the first time, having collaborated virtually for a while - magic! It was very special to meet the 2026 APEC Women's Business Activator cohort here in Melbourne yesterday. Once again, we've been blessed with a group or intelligent, curious, ambitious and determined women, who are on a mission to change the world. We spent the day drawing together the threads of the program and mapping out a final plan for international expansion, just what I love to do. Many thanks to Jennifer Mulyawan, Rahul Soans and Elfirda Esti for making everything run seamlessly and to @RMIT Activator for hosting us.

Counter-argument: In rare cases, fast aggressive trade action makes sense, China especially. Subsidies, IP theft, dumping, coercion. WTO is slow. Some say presidents need tariff authority. But where’s the line? Targeted enforcement vs blanket tariffs, now before the Court.

If tariffs don’t work and escalation would be catastrophic, what does responsible pressure look like? Trade can support human dignity only when it’s targeted, coordinated, and disciplined. Blanket punishment doesn’t change regimes; it changes who pays.
