Yet again, a suspended sentence for an animal abuser 😡 CONVICTED | He Chased, Beat And Stamped On Defenceless Ducks While His Friends Laughed — Then Posted It On Snapchat Owen Rayner, 20, of Staincross, Barnsley, chased three Mallard ducks around a lakeside, struck them repeatedly with a large stick and stamped on at least three of them as they desperately tried to flee. Two older teenagers watched and laughed as it happened. Rayner filmed it and posted it on Snapchat. RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben — a man with 27 years of experience — described it as one of the worst deliberate acts of cruelty on innocent defenceless animals he had ever witnessed. He said the fact those involved were laughing as they carried out the attack showed how little respect they had for living creatures. Rayner admitted an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 for intentionally killing or causing injury to three ducks. The court heard the attack was deliberate, prolonged and carried out purely for amusement. He was sentenced to an 18-week suspended prison sentence, 150 hours unpaid work and over £500 in fines and costs. Ducks feel pain and fear just like any other living creature.
