How did the English puritans decline?
Over a period of 80 years, the presbyterians went from almost reforming the whole nation under one confession... to tolerating Unitarian, Arian and Arminian errors & heresies in their own denomination

The Westminster Shorter Catechism was made for Christians longing to go deeper in their faith.

28% of evangelicals have begun attending church in the past 1-2 years, according to a recent survey.
But do some evangelical beliefs sit uneasily alongside faith in Christ and a belief in the authority of the Bible; what does this mean for the UK church?

What is so bad about thinking we're good?
Surely all people are naturally good - unless they are in bad circumstances, mistreated, or fall in with a bad crowd?
61% of evangelical Christians think this. Up from 49% in 2018
Here's why that is bad news:

This book was a rare contribution by a presbyterian to a debate which raged in the 1690s between presbyterians and Independents.
Traill came in to support the heritage of John Owen, and this brief book is a clarion call for Calvinism.
One must credit the Scots... on occasion.
Today on the Banner Podcast, we talk Robert Traill and his 𝐽𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑉𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 (1692) with @djmaclean1.

Chad Van Dixhoorn on how hospitality can act as a bulwark against ministerial failure. For so many pastors that fall, it comes out afterwards that no one really knew them — how they were in their private life and with their families.
Pastors: open your homes.
Congregants: encourage your pastors to show more hospitality.
The Westminster Divines (left, 1646) held that in one God there were "three persons, of one substance, power and eternity: God the Father... the Son... & Holy Ghost"
The chapel on the right (1692) was established with the same belief. It would soon become Unitarian. How?

For couples who experience miscarriage or stillbirth of their children, it can be the hardest time of their life.
This poem was written for a Christian couple who suffered this pain.
If that is you, I hope you can read & take comfort in the Lord today.

Highly recommend ”A Word Fitly. Spoken" by Aaron L. Garriot, a theology of communication grounded in everyday life including God's word; prayer; personal communication including non verbal digital. Communication is fundamental to who we are made in God's image. Great book!

Hyper-rare arguments for infant baptism (hence the Pokemon card)🧵
1. There are no examples of children waiting to be baptised.
If infants and young children were left out of household baptisms, should we not expect some trace of testimony referring to such children in the NT?
this bonus from @petermileach - 1 Corinthians 7:14 which calls the children of one believing parent holy is actually a new thing in the New Testament not present in the Old. Your children are now MORE part of the covenant than in OT because holiness is 'infectious' within the fam
