The face of the Gen Z protests, activist Neha Bora (@neha_aisa) has said, a video of her purportedly drawing parallels with the violent student protests in Bangladesh was doctored and that she does not support the use of violence at all.
Speaking to Nidhi Razdan (@Nidhi) on Dekoder she said “you cannot accuse a person who has been sitting on 23 days of hunger strike that she's calling for violence.
You cannot accuse us as activists who have been dragged on the street, whose clothes have been torn, who have been kept in detention for 10 hours, 12 hours, and have still not said one word of abuse to the security forces, or have not picked up any arms.
We were getting beaten up by security forces. We were getting beaten up by right wing goons. What did we have in our hands?
Did we have lathis? Did we have pellet guns like the security forces on 20th of July? No.”
Talking about the future of the protests she said , “the state is busy writing definitions of its own and I believe the agitation and resistance of the common people in favour of democracy is also busy writing definitions of its own.”
