If you’re trying to understand DeFi beyond the headline, you’re in the right place.
I’m Recker, a DeFi researcher focused on:
→ Protocol mechanics
→ Tokenomics & incentives
→ Risk
→ ZK & Ethereum
→ DeFi infrastructure
→ BD
I dig into DeFi protocols, their mechanics, incentives & risks, what can break, and who benefits. So you don’t get FOOLED.
I’ll be using this account to publish:
• Protocol breakdowns
• Research & data
• Risk analysis
• DeFi explainers
• Things worth paying attention to
If you want to understand what you’re actually interacting with in crypto rather than blindly following the narrative:
Follow along.
And if you’re building a DeFi protocol and need someone who can turn complex mechanics into clear research and content, my DMs are open.
Seems like the space is being blindfolded by the lack of noise around the quantum threat to BTC.
But less noise about a threat doesn’t mean it’s no longer a threat.
There have been several proposals aimed at making BTC quantum-safe. Two of them are BIP-360 and BIP-361. Here’s what both proposals are about.
BIP-360 (P2MR or Pay-to-Merkle-Root) aims to reduce key exposure by design.
BIP-361 (Post-Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset), proposed by Jameson Lopp and others, outlines a phased approach: a multi-year window to migrate to quantum-resistant outputs, followed by tighter rules or restrictions on legacy ECDSA/Schnorr spends, with possible recovery mechanisms for some unmigrated coins through seed proofs.
One reason these proposals could be useful is that hash-based schemes like SPHINCS+-style signatures and other post-quantum signatures are under active development and testing.
Soft forks introducing new address types and signature schemes are one way Bitcoin can handle major protocol upgrades, as it has done with SegWit and Taproot. Europol and others have also recommended proactive migration and post-quantum cryptography adoption.
Wallets, exchanges, and users will need to coordinate the migration, but this is an engineering and social challenge that can potentially be solved.
That said, my POV on the whole quantum threat is that if it ever comes to that, the damage could be less severe than many expect.
Why do I say so?
If the community moves coins to new quantum-safe addresses in time, and the necessary address types are available before the real threat materializes, the majority of actively held coins could be protected.
The chain itself could continue operating, although the market reaction could still be sharp if quantum progress accelerates faster than expected or a sudden breakthrough occurs.
Some coins would remain vulnerable or effectively frozen:
Lost keys, dormant Satoshi-era coins, and other unspendable holdings cannot easily migrate.
Proposals like BIP-361 contemplate eventually restricting or freezing legacy signatures so attackers cannot simply drain vulnerable coins. This is controversial because it prioritizes security over the principle that anyone should always be able to spend coins with the original key. However, it is on the table precisely because unrestricted quantum recovery of old coins is unattractive to many.
With soft forks and migration, the protocol can adapt. But the main residual risks are timing mismatches, coordination, the fraction of the supply that cannot or will not move (unmigratable supply), and the impact on market confidence.
That points to potentially contained rather than catastrophic damage to Bitcoin as a system, even if some individual holdings are affected and there is temporary market disruption.
The “quantum will instantly kill Bitcoin” framing overstates the threat. The “do nothing and it will be fine forever” framing understates the need to prepare.
What do you think about the risks?
You think you got what it takes?
Btw, there are lots of experienced traders in the club you can get more signals from, so being a beginner is not a problem anymore.

At this point in this space, nobody really cares about how a protocol works under the hood
What matters most right now is market sentiment
Fundamentals can be solid, the tech can be impressive, the product can be working but if the market doesn’t care, the price usually reflects that
And when sentiment shifts, everything can move fast.
What a day we’re in😭

adding to this:
the missing piece is not only chargebacks on purchases
The pain path is the “oh shit I sent it to the wrong wallet” moment
a payment network that would let you pay someone and, if the address is wrong, still have a path that doesn’t start with etherscan
pay with a name, not a 42-character string see who you’re sending to before you hit confirm, send a test amount first if they haven’t moved the funds, give a short window to pull it back if they are in the network, open a chat from that same payment so you can ask them to return it
chat is useful
an empty address, a contract, or an exchange hot wallet still can’t talk back.
so build both: visa-style disputes for “merchant didn’t ship” and send-safety for “I typed the wrong wallet”
there's a billion dollar opportunity in crypto that no one is building:
a blockchain where stablecoin payments can be disputed, chargebacked, or reversed.
everyone talks about stablecoins replacing Visa because they’re instant, cheaper, and global.
but a huge part of Visa’s value is the system that protects buyers and merchants when something goes wrong:
> chargebacks
> refunds + returns
> fraud protection
> dispute resolution
> buyer protection
> merchant protection
stablecoin payments don’t have any of that.
once you send the money, the transaction is final and irreversible. if the merchant never ships, sends the wrong product, or scams you, there’s no dispute process to get your money back.
that’s one of the biggest things holding stablecoins back from being adopted in everyday commerce.
someone needs to build a payment network specifically around this problem:
> consumers pay merchants in stablecoins
> buyers can file disputes if something goes wrong
> merchants can respond to those claims
> a governing layer decides when funds should be returned
you still get instant, cheap, global payments, but now with the consumer protections people already expect from card networks like Visa.
