You are happy with the benefits digital transformation brings to your company, but now you are discovering a “hidden tax”: digital friction. It appears when people repeat work, switch between systems, or wait for information, consuming time and capacity. Microblog @antgrasso Let me explain digital friction “papele papele,” as we say in Naples: plain and simple. An employee updates a customer record in the CRM, then copies the same information into another system because the two platforms do not communicate. Five minutes disappear. Multiply that by hundreds of people every day and the cost is no longer small. Or take an approval process. The request is already inside a digital workflow, but someone still exports a file and sends it by email for another check. The technology is there. The work is still moving twice. Digital friction often hides in repeated work or waiting between systems. The answer is not another transformation project. Start by watching how work actually moves and identify where people repeat actions or leave one system just to complete a task in another. Then remove the friction that adds no judgment. A process can be digital and still waste time. That waste is the “hidden tax” you keep paying until someone looks closely enough to see it.

Friday take: the hardest part of shipping an AI feature is not the model, it is what happens when it gets it wrong. Demos always skip that screen. Every AI product I ship lives or dies on the fallback path. How do you design for the wrong answer?

Gravitee 2026: 81% of enterprise AI agents are past planning and live in production. Only 14.4% have full security approval. We shipped autonomy faster than we shipped accountability. Governance is not the brake, it is the license to scale. 🎯 #DecisivelyDigital #AI

Most AI governance conversations begin with the model. For banks, the problem often begins much earlier. Governance and compliance concerns rank as the leading challenge to scaling AI. And 90% of financial institutions plan to increase investment in data governance and architecture over the next 12–24 months. A governed semantic layer helps turn that investment into operational control. It gives employees, reporting tools and AI systems the same approved definitions, security rules and business context, with an audit trail showing how answers were produced. Because AI governance cannot rely only on checking outputs after the fact. Trust and control need to be built into the data foundation. Personalization is not a feature, it is an operating decision. If your data can predict what a customer needs but your org chart cannot act on it, that is not a CX problem. It is a structure problem. 📖 #DecisivelyDigital #DigitalTransformation

i used to think enterprise AI would mostly look like employees getting better copilots. now i’m not so sure. the more interesting stuff is starting to happen when companies give agents an actual job instead of another chat window. customer support, internal requests, document work, approvals, all the boring messy things that normally bounce between five people and three systems. that’s also where everything gets harder though. company data is messy, permissions are messy and real customers never behave like the examples in a demo. so when i see products being built around guardrails, escalation and actual workflow ownership, that feels much closer to where the real enterprise market is going.

McKinsey 2026 AI Trust data: orgs with a named owner for responsible AI score 2.6 on maturity. Those without score 1.8. The biggest differentiator costs no budget, only the will to put a name next to the risk. 🎯 #DecisivelyDigital #AI #DigitalStrategy

Friday hot take: the biggest AI upgrade this year was not a bigger model, it was better context. Same weights, better retrieval and memory, wildly different output. We keep shopping for capability when the bottleneck is what we feed it. What changed most in your setup?

Digital transformation fails as a project and works as an operating model. Decisively Digital makes the case: stop funding initiatives, start funding capabilities. Projects end. Capabilities compound. 📖🎯 #DecisivelyDigital #DigitalTransformation #Leadership

Most enterprise AI agent projects never make it to production, according to new data: about 88 percent stall before deployment, and only 11-12 percent are running at scale. The most common blockers cited are infrastructure gaps (41%), governance issues (38%), and lack of baseline metrics to measure success (33%). xitter.cf/johniosifov/status/208…
88% of enterprise AI agents never reach production. The 12% that do share exactly 4 attributes: 1. Pre-deployment infrastructure investment 2. Governance documentation before pilots start 3. Baseline metrics captured before go-live 4. Dedicated business ownership post-deployment I've run an autonomous agent in production for 329 days. 2,272 sessions. 4,474 tweets posted. The thing that would have killed it at month 1: not picking one of these four to anchor on early. We started with #4. One person with accountability for whether the agent's output was actually good — not whether the infrastructure worked, but whether the content was worth posting. That single point of ownership meant every failure had a human asking "why?" instead of 16 stakeholders shrugging. Here's what separates the 12% from the 88% in practice: **Infrastructure (41% cite as failure cause):** The agent doesn't fail at the demo. It fails at session 47 when rate limits hit, memory bloats, and context runs out. If you haven't stress-tested your state management before launch, the first production incident will define public perception of "AI agents" at your company for 2 years. **Governance (38% cite):** 75% of enterprise leaders say security, compliance, and auditability are the most critical requirements. But most teams write governance docs after something goes wrong. The 12% write them before the first real user ever sees the system. **Baseline metrics (33% cite ROI failure):** You cannot prove ROI on a system you didn't measure before deployment. "It feels faster" is not a business case. Capture your pre-agent baseline: time per task, cost per output, error rate. Or resign yourself to defending the budget in 6 months with no data. **Business ownership:** Every successful production agent has a human whose job status is partially tied to that agent's performance. Not just an engineer caring about uptime. A business person caring about outcomes. 79% of enterprises have adopted AI agents in some form. 11% run them in production. That 68-point gap isn't a technology problem. It's an infrastructure-governance-metrics-ownership problem. You can close it. Most won't. The 12% aren't smarter. They just do boring preparation work that feels unnecessary until it isn't. → Repo: github.com/AICMO/Autonomous-…

Gartner: 2026 enterprise AI software spend hits $297B, up 34%. McKinsey: only 11% of orgs have reached enterprise scale with measurable P&L impact. That gap is the story. Budget is not a strategy, and spend is not adoption. 🎯 #DecisivelyDigital #AI #DigitalStrategy

Much of the industry is racing toward fully autonomous AI agents. Paul Heathcote, Stelia’s VP of Applied AI, makes the case that for enterprises, that ambition is often misplaced. In a recent interview with @latimesstudios_ at @Cannes_Lions, Paul argued that corporate systems don’t reward unconstrained autonomy, but rather predictable, repeatable, stable outcomes. And therefore, those getting AI right aren’t handing everything to self-learning systems; they’re embedding AI into structured workflows with clearly defined inputs and outputs. Across the interview, Paul digs into what this means for enterprise AI development, why proprietary data is a brand’s real competitive advantage, and where he believes AI is delivering its most immediate impact. “AI employee” is a tempting metaphor. It is also the wrong architecture. Companies do not need a collection of digital employees bolted onto old workflows. They need a new operating model for human and machine work.
