Cardinals Bounce Back to Capture Third Straight GSWS Championship! The Cardinals dropped the first game of the championship round to Five Star (Georgia) by a final score of 6-1 but bounced back to win the “if necessary” championship game 8-0 on Friday at Publix Park in Panama City, FL. On the mound, the Cardinals got an outstanding performance from winning pitcher Davis St. Pierre @DavisStPierre2 (Lutcher) who threw a complete game one hitter. St. Pierre walked none and struck out five while the Cardinals defense played flawless behind him. At the plate, Dalton St. Pierre @DaltonStPierre6 (Lutcher) was 2-3 with three RBI and Alex Scheuermann @a_sch07 (St Martin’s) was 2-2 with a RBI triple. Michael Brothers @MikeBrothers29 (Jesuit) drove in Scheuermann with a sharp single to centerfield to end the game in the bottom of the fifth via the mercy rule. The team went 5-1 overall during the week. The Cardinals program is now an impressive 19-2 overall in three trips to the 18U Grand Slam World Series. Go Cards! ⚾️🇺🇸

Comeback Cards! That’s a Winner to open pool play in the GSWS! Trailing 1-0, the Cardinals scored two in the top of the sixth inning to beat 5 Star by a final score of 2-1 at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. The entire game was played in nasty conditions associated with the weather system in the gulf. On the mound, winning pitcher Davis St. Pierre @DavisStPierre2 (Lutcher) pitched a six inning complete game scattering just five hits, allowing one run, and striking out nine batters! At the plate, Bronson Leaumont @Leaumon1Bronson (Br Martin) 1-3 RBI and Alex Scheuermann @a_sch07 (St Martin’s) 1-3 RBI were the heroes of the sixth inning comeback. Leaumont singled with the bases loaded to tie the game and Scheuermann singled with the bases loaded to put the Cards on top. The team is back in action at 6:00 pm tonight vs Farm League (GA) at Publix Park to conclude pool play. Go Cards! ⚾️🇺🇸
