My statement on the indictment of Dawood Faisal for the targeted vandalism of Bagels & Co., a kosher shop located in my district. I applaud @QueensDAKatz for her prosecution against Dawood Faisal for this hate crime and his role in the death of my constituent, Cara Trager.
Today marks three years since October 7th. It was a day when Israel suffered unimaginable loss, and Jewish communities around the world were left grieving and forever changed. Innocent civilians were killed, families were torn apart, and 251 people were taken hostage.
The pain, grief, and horror of that day continue to be felt by countless families. It was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust, reopening wounds that carry generations of pain and showing the devastating human cost of hatred and antisemitism.
Dear friends, please stay safe this weekend. We’re expecting heavy rain, possible flooding, and strong winds across NYC from Friday through Sunday. NYC Emergency Management is advising New Yorkers to limit travel during severe weather and use extra caution if you must be out.
Take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and please stay informed: on.nyc.gov/4hKdbmG
At sundown, the holiest day of the year for the Jewish community begins.
I want to wish all an easy, meaningful, and reflective fast on this Yom Kippur.
I had the honor of speaking at North Shore Towers and Country Club in remembrance of 9/11. I also want to thank Romeo Hitlall, founder of the Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park Lions Club, for inviting elected officials to the 9/11 wreath-laying ceremony at the RH Triangle.
I want to wish everyone a happy and meaningful New Year. During Rosh Hashanah, we take time to reflect on the year behind us and look toward the year ahead with hope. May this new year bring peace, good health, and sweetness to our friends, families, and communities. Shana Tova!
The DHS “Transformers: America for Americans” post is disgraceful and completely inappropriate. We can have serious conversations about immigration and enforcement without demeaning entire communities or fueling division.
Hello friends,
The MTA has announced planned E train service changes in Queens from Friday, Sept. 18 at 11:45 PM through Monday, Sept. 21 at 5:00 AM due to track maintenance. No E service at Jamaica-Van Wyck, Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, or Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer.
This morning I joined @GovKathyHochul and @QueensDAKatz who announced the sentencing of Jaime Huiracocha (53) and Victor Murillo (34). Both were found guilty of charges related to staging 3 crashes on NYC highways and seeking fraudulent insurance payouts for damages and injuries.
Staged car crashes aren’t just cases of insurance fraud - they're a serious public safety threat! Innocent New Yorkers have been deliberately targeted in staged collisions as part of larger fraud scheme - thankfully they were caught on dashboard cameras.

I applaud Governor Hochul, Queens DA Katz, @NYDFS, law enforcement, and everyone working to crack down on staged crashes, protect innocent drivers, and ensure that wrongdoers are held to account and New Yorkers aren’t left paying the price for organized insurance fraud.
