On the Annual #GERS bunfight. A few takeaways from me on today’s numbers: 1/ Scotland’s fiscal deficit narrowed from 11.5% to 10.9% of GDP. BUT much of the revenue growth reflects higher taxation and fiscal drag, not unusually strong economic growth.

Wisps of mist on this morning’s #dailymile - lovely start to the day! I’ve set myself a challenge of running 100km over August - a stretch for me but hopefully do-able.

Some big changes are afoot in the government bond market, and the Bank of England is sufficiently worried to be flagging the risks they pose to the stability of the financial system. This is about who owns our national debt, and who’s trading it. 🧵

A proud moment for everyone connected with Royal Dornoch. Past Captain Willie “Hook” MacKay has been honoured for his outstanding contribution to golf across the Highlands and beyond… a richly deserved recognition of decades of dedication, passion, and service to the game. A true ambassador for Royal Dornoch and Highland golf, Willie’s impact has been felt far and wide, and this accolade is a fitting tribute. royaldornoch.com/2026/03/20/…

Royal Dornoch has been selected as one of just 10 Golf Health Hubs in Scotland. Through the Golf in Society initiative, the club will help support physical activity, wellbeing and social connection in the local community. Backed by Scottish Golf, Active Scotland & The R&A Foundation it's a great step forward for both Royal Dornoch and the wider community. 📖royaldornoch.com/2026/03/17/…

A fitting new tribute has been unveiled at the entrance to our clubhouse. A bronze statue of Donald Ross and John Sutherland captures the moment Ross left in 1899 to shape the game in America… thanks in no small part to Sutherland’s vision. Story 👇 royaldornoch.com/2026/04/20/…
