California is losing at least $50 billion a year to fraud, so even under the most optimistic assumptions, the “wealth tax” will only collect enough to pay California’s fraud budget for 7 months.
California's Billionaire Tax Act would collect roughly $30 billion. Accounting for lost income taxes from departures, the mean Net Present Value is negative $39 billion, from Benjamin Jaros and Joshua Rauh nber.org/papers/w35899

Miguel Rojas has announced his retirement after more than 2,500 games across 21 professional seasons.
The veteran infielder began his pro career with the Reds organization in 2006 at age 17.
Rojas would go on to play 13 Major League seasons with the Marlins and Dodgers. His veteran presence helped the Dodgers to World Series championships in 2024 and 2025.
Dodgers fans will never forget his legendary game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game Seven of the 2025 World Series.
Congratulations to Miggy Ro on a remarkable career!

Haven’t had to see a “Thank You Fans” post from the @Dodgers since October of 2023.
Weird. I was reliably told by baseball twitter that the #Dodgers have ruined baseball and no small market teams can compete. 🤔
Rare PSA. My fellow Angelenos: the City of Los Angeles writes 1.9 million parking tickets annually, which bring in $310,000 daily, and $113m annually.
It is highly unethical and should be illegal, for @LACity to issue moneygrabbing tickets on the same streets they refuse to: Sweep weekly, Fix potholes monthly, Repave annually, Police patrol daily, Enforce RV laws, Enforce tent laws, Pull weeds, Maintain landscaping, Repair crumbling curbs, Repair dangerously uneven sidewalks ... these are BASIC city services anywhere in the developed world.
There is an absolute breakdown of the social contract on our city's streets right now from City Hall. We really don't have to live like this. I hope we remember that this November.

The Yankees have won the World Series once in the last 25 years.
They’ve been top 5 in payroll all but one season (6th in 2018) in that span.
Buying championships is not possible. Yes, you can buy stars, but you still have to win games.
Could not agree more.
I am about to say something marginally political. Brace yourselves. 😎
I am a native Californian and a political independent. Here in California we have a Democrat governor, a Democrat super majority in the state legislature, and every major city has a Democrat mayor. And every election cycle every single poll reveals a majority of voters think the state is heading in the wrong direction. And yet we keep putting Democrats in office. California’s problems are all about policy. Period. You can’t blame “the other guy“ for the absolute horror that exists in our metro areas, or a budget that has collapsed due to the unrestrained funding of undocumented immigrants. It is the Dems fault and they need to own it. And perhaps we need to give someone else a shot at this. Just saying.

If your version of Christianity never requires repentance, sacrifice, or obedience, it is not biblical Christianity.
Did you know that 3 out of every 4 pastors in Southern California are bi-vocational, with many working 2 or more jobs in addition to pastoring? Pastors, I know you are busy and your time is valuable, yet you undoubtedly have developing leaders in your church who need training. SoCal North American Missions desires to help the pastors of SoCalUPCI with EQUIP - a ministry training toolkit designed to provide free, ongoing training resources to assist pastors in developing young leaders and aspiring ministers. Our next EQUIP call is Monday, October 5 at 6:30pm with guest speaker Scott Graham. It is open to any developing leader who has the blessing of their local pastor. Visit socalnam.com/equip for information and how to join the call.
Cannot believe it’s been ten years. Miss his voice!
Ten years ago today, Vin Scully signed off the @Dodgers airwaves for the final time.

That’s a terrible call. Awful. Terry is right. That’s an interception. Rams got robbed here. Easy. Obvious.
How it started. How it’s going. 🙈
The devolution of the @RamsNFL uniforms needs to be studied.
It's almost like CA's soft-on-crime thing puts everyday people in danger. Who would have thought?
NEW: I spoke exclusively with the uncle of Bailee Rios, the woman accused in the deadly Chatsworth Metro bus crash.
He tells me she struggled with substance abuse and says the justice system gave her “too many chances.”
2 people were killed and at least 6 injured. Then, a Channel 4 news helicopter covering the crash went down, killing 3 more.
