I took Ainsley on a book acquisition trip to our local bookstore today. It is always a joy. While we were looking for new books, we witnessed a young father reading aloud to his son one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Real men are out there, folks. No wimps read to their kids.

Friday question. What is your favorite Will Ferrell cameo (or small role)? While a close one for me...you can't keep "Big Earl" down from Starsky & Hutch.

"Friends, our Father knows what we need, so let’s seek his kingdom first, above everything (Matt. 6:31-34). Eternal election in Christ(Eph.1:4-5) is more history & cosmos shaping than any election by mere men of mere men. Jesus is our King, and we are his Bride." @ScottyWardSmith

It has been a joyful experience to reread “All the Pretty Horses” since my daughter has to read it in freshman Literature class. I also picked up Cormac McCarthy’s highly anticipated first of two novels this fall, “The Passenger.” Whomever else is reading these, let’s talk.

We'll always be boys. I love this.
Mariners fans have waited 21 years for this. Even if it means watching it at a car dealership. (P.s. you’re gonna wanna watch the full video)

We all seem to love a good crime or mystery novel. Never gets old.
Among all ages, the two most-read genres are mystery and crime and religion and spirituality. (Intriguing combo.) History takes third. millersbookreview.substack.c…

Since Jeff Gaw keeps asking me which books I’ve enjoyed lately, here you go. History and a pop-thriller. You’re welcome.
Jesus, gentle the jaded edges in our souls. Untie our heart-knots with your hands of grace. Settle and center us by the hope of the Gospel. Fill us with all the grace and kindness we'll need for the day in front of us.

Every now and then I am surprised and delighted by a film. That film is Belfast. I watched it on a plane this week and had to pull a hat over my face to hide the happy tears. Belfast is the best film I've seen in a long time and the Irish sure know how to make good movies.
