Derrick Henry is now number ten on the all time rushing list. He has a great shot of finishing in the top 5 all time. Yet I still think he isn’t receiving enough praise. Given shorter RB careers and split carries, he may be the last truly great back.

Steve Sarkisian reveals he couldn’t get a job interview in 2015 before Nick Saban gave him a $30,000/yr analyst job that saved his career “In 2015, I had gotten fired at USC, gone to recovery, started working on me personally. Coming out of that, I couldn’t get a job. In 2016, I was ready to go do TV.” “I couldn’t get an interview for a job. And Nick Saban saved my career. He offered me an analyst job. I was willing to do it for free.” “But he said, ‘I gotta pay you $30,000 so you can get benefits.’ I said, ‘Okay, I’ll do that.’ I’m forever indebted to him. Because at that time, somebody in life has got to give all of us a second chance.” “It totally changed my perspective. It changed my perspective on how I coach. How I deal with our players. Because everybody’s going through stuff. Everybody’s got stuff.” “Whatever your stuff is, you’re just trying to get through it. If I can be that guy that can extend that olive branch to our players as we go through this journey, I always lean back to that time.” “Here’s the greatest coach of all time in our era. For whatever reason, he saw something in me. He gave me a chance. He gave me a shot.” “From there, he actually makes me the offensive coordinator for the National Championship game against Clemson. And I was an analyst. I wasn’t even a coach.”

44 million birds crossed Kentucky last night. Another 42 million crossed Tennessee. A lot of y’all said those radar blooms couldn’t be birds. They were. Radar sends out two signals, one horizontal and one vertical. Rain reflects them almost the same. Birds don’t. That’s why storms in South Dakota showed up purple, while the birds over Kentucky showed up orange. And the reason the blooms hug the radar sites? The beam gets higher the farther it travels. Most migrating birds are only a couple thousand feet up, so radar sees them best nearby.

Light rain? Unfortunately, no. The radar is actually picking up on tons of birds as they migrate south. You can explore more about it here: birdcast.org

A quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001, when the peace of our Nation was shattered by terrorists. Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives taken from us, honor the heroes who answered the call, & keep their families in the heart of our Nation. Above all, we must ensure the memory of 9/11 never fades, but is carried from one generation of Americans to the next. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

FBS College Football Imperialism Map after Week 1! #CFBimperialism⚔️ Rules: FBS teams divide USA by closest county. Beating a team takes its territory & keeps it all until a loss (all goes to the winner), but teams can get back on the map by defeating others with land!

The Michigan clock fiasco is a national security issue: having the end of the game depend on a secret clock that no one can see is soccer nonsense, and allowing that in our game undercuts what makes America special.

I found 175 college football field storms since 2019. No team had a sadder storm field than Michigan (-27.5) last night and Michigan holds two of the three saddest field storms. (Will continue to chart more field storms in prior years. This is my new quest)
