Remembering today the anniversary of the Nazi roundup of the Jews of Rome and the deportation to their death at Auschwitz of over a thousand Jews of Rome
Times account today of Mussolini's execution is filled with errors. Odd in a piece celebrating the history of Times journalism.

Indebted to Florian Louis for spreading word of my new book to France. Hopefully, in addition to the US, UK, and Italian editions coming out in the next few months, there will also be a French edition before long.
Just got the first look at the book cover design for the Oxford University Press British/Commonwealth edition of my new book, which they are publishing in early March 2027, a couple of months after the Random House edition appears in the U.S.
Glad to see this tweet today on the cover of my new book. The woman seen there is daughter of the Pope's dentist. Pius XII did all he could to get his dentist, a German Jewish immigrant, recategorized as a member of the "Aryan" race to avoid persecution under Italy's racial laws
#ICYMI, we were thrilled to reveal the incredible cover of @DavidKertzer's THE SECRET INQUISITION with @randomhouse. Click below to read more and preorder your copy today. bit.ly/4q4AqKM
Still five months to go to Random House publication of THE SECRET INQUISITION, but nice to see word beginning to be spread....
Replying to @JewishBook
Using never-before-examined Fascist and Vatican archives, THE SECRET INQUISITION is a shocking, groundbreaking history of Italy’s 1938 racial laws & the desperate measures thousands of Jewish families took to save themselves before and during World War II.
Glad to announce Garzanti publishing the Italian edition of The Secret Inquisition next March, 2 months after Random House publishes the American edition and same month as Oxford University Press publishes the Commonwealth edition. Garzanti is also publishing new editions of:
A bit surprised to see that Random House already has an order page for my new book, The Secret Inquisition, although we are still six months from its publication date. Looking forward!

Nice to see Brown University featured in Italy's most prominent newspaper today, but unfortunately not exactly in a good way, highlighting cheating via AI on an economics midterm exam

A rather scathing critique of my Brown University colleague Omer Bartov's recent book and his role as a darling of the Israel-bashing left and other enemies of a Jewish state

Glad to see this new(er) French edition of The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara is being read and cited....

Shocking news. A great historian and a great colleague and friend. He will be sorely missed.
Gordon S. Wood, the eminent historian of the American Revolution, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in the parking lot outside Shaw’s in East Providence on Sunday. He was 92: wpri.com/top-stories/famed-h…
Fascinating to see the labelling of places in the map of Rome in the new Chinese edition of my book, The Pope at War.
Piece worth reading on Italian fascism as political religion and lessons for perils of rise of fascism today. I don't entirely agree with Emilio Gentile's view of fascism as religion but this is worth pondering.

Glad to see there is interest in Germany in a topic that is in some ways narrowly Irish.
David Kertzer’s article which will appear in the February issue, but is already available on OnlineFirst, has been picked up by Catholic media in Germany. @DavidKertzer @StPatsMaynooth
