X translation services are terrible. In bocca al lupo does *not* mean break a leg. Signed, an Italian Canadian who is fed up with the ridiculousness on this app.
In bocca al lupo Khvicha, ti aspettiamo presto in campo! 💪
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The English phrase "Break a leg" in this post is an artifact of automated translation from Italian ("In bocca al lupo" or literal translation). "Break a leg" is an English idiom used to wish someone good luck, and is not a literal instruction. merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bre…

Premier Smith stops short of saying she would block any UCP candidates or board members who would fight openly for separation. She says her party respects the refendum results, and she's asking separatists to self-reflect and choose another party if they continue to persue those beliefs.

Quite the question to start off today's presser, to put it mildly. "All of that is new information to me," said Smith. "I have no reason to be concerned about that."
Premier Smith's press conference begins with a question from Rebel News on if she will appoint an investigator to look into George Soros' interfering in the Alberta referendum and looking into Forever Canadian's "dark money". She uh says no.

CBC's @Jantafrench asks Smith if the UCP will put in black & white its federalist position in its constitution. "I'm doing that today," said Smith repeatedly.

#NEW: Premier Danielle Smith says separatists aren't welcome in the UCP. "For those few who cannot reconcile this fact & remain intent on turning our party into a vehicle for the independence movement, I would respectfully invite them to find a different party," said Smith.
I hope every UCP member and supporter will watch this video. The referendum is behind us. Albertans gave their answers and our party must honour that mandate. What comes next is the only fight that matters, and it is twelve months away. Naheed Nenshi's NDP have told us exactly what they will do with power: 🟠 Reopen the drug consumption sites we closed 🟠 Let minors undergo irreversible gender surgeries without their parents' knowledge. 🟠 Shut down school choice. 🟠 Bring back the production cap and the net zero regulations to phase out our energy sector. 🟠 Open border immigration. 🟠 A carbon tax. 🟠 And Avi Lewis in Ottawa pulling Nenshi’s strings. United, our party will win. Divided the NDP wins and all Albertas would suffer as a result. The time for division is over. The time to unite and fight for a stronger Alberta and Canada is now.

Smith also says the party is pro-Canada and all candidates running for the party must be committed to this position from start to finish. Provincial & constituency boards must also abide by this. "A strong Alberta within a united Canada is the position of our party," she said.

6:45 PM MT. Premier Danielle Smith will address Alberta one day after voters roundly rejected separatism, and backed 8/9 questions in a referendum.
Albertans picked up a pencil yesterday and answered ten hard questions about our future. That is democracy at its finest and tonight we talk about what comes next. Join me live on CTV, Global, CityNews, Facebook, X or YouTube at 6:45pm— as we go through the referendum results, what they mean for this province, and what comes next.

A cool Edmonton connection to the Brewers' last MLB championship.
The last time Milwaukee won the World Series, their left-fielder was Wes Covington. Mr. Covington spent the last thirty-years of his life living in Edmonton. He worked for the Sun newspaper and was a regular at Triple-A Trappers games.

The "new" team this gentleman is referring to is the San Jose Sharks, a team that has been around since 1991. The exact opposite of a team that has never laced up before.
Last night, there was an NHL, regular season game. It featured the Toronto Maple Leafs and a new team that had never laced up together, before. Toronto beat them, 3-1. The players in Toronto's locker room didn't celebrate- while spirits were high across the hall (in the losing team's locker room). Though this is a recorded regulation win for Toronto, the real ones know... a new team that put points on the board against an established NHL dynasty is going to be a leader in their space. That's what we are. Potential. It's up to us what we want to do with it. A quarter of the votes is no small amount. Well done, Independence. 82 games a season. Just 1 down.

.@MonteSolberg Statement on Alberta Separation Referendum Results 🇨🇦 DRUMHELLER, AB (Oct. 20, 2026) – Today, Vote to Stay Founder Monte Solberg issued the following statement in response to Albertans' decisive and overwhelming vote to stay in Canada: "Albertans have spoken loud and clear, voting overwhelmingly to stay in Canada and reject separation. "Alberta's future is about building a stronger province alongside our fellow Canadians, not breaking our country apart. "It's time to put the question of separation to rest and get to work building a stronger Alberta within a united Canada. "Let's close this chapter and move forward together as proud Albertans and patriotic Canadians – focused on making life more affordable, getting pipelines built, developing our energy resources, attracting investment, creating jobs, and securing a brighter and more prosperous future."
