Our film from 2021 after @WingsScotland exposed the Murrell Family Syndicate. Just a shame it took 4 years to prosecute and jail at least one of those involved. Time for further police enquiries and for SNP members to claim their money back.

The SNP and Nicola Sturgeon will be breathing huge sighs of relief. Just think what we might have learned of their dark arts if there had been a trial. I wonder what’s been going on behind closed doors in the run up to this plea. And what’s in it for Murrell?
And now he’s pleaded guilty to the whole caboodle. Does this mean he obstructed the investigation by lying for years?

I’ve just come back from Asda — or as it’s now known, Daylight Robbery With Fluorescent Lighting. £145. For a week’s shop. For one man. On a diet. At this point I half-expected a balaclava at the door and a note saying “Cheers for your cooperation.” Pushing the trolley round was like navigating a post-apocalyptic warehouse. Cardboard everywhere. Unpacked cages blocking aisles. Stock piled up like it’s waiting for permission to exist. It felt less “weekly shop” and more Takeshi’s Castle, minus the fun and without Craig Charles shouting encouragement. Then comes the signage. One aisle: “Eid Mubarak items here” — full special lettering, proper sign, loud and proud. Two aisles later: Easter eggs… quietly dumped under a sign that just says “Seasonal Items.” No mention of Easter. No celebration. No acknowledgement. Just… chocolate in witness protection. And before anyone starts foaming at the mouth — this isn’t about faith, race, or people. It’s about selective corporate enthusiasm. Either celebrate everything equally or stop playing cultural Top Trumps in the cereal aisle. This is Britain — we’re perfectly capable of walking past more than one celebration without spontaneously combusting. Then the checkout finale. I buy coffee. Instant coffee. Brown water in a jar. And I get age-verified. For coffee. Apparently, at any moment I might neck a Nescafé and spiral into a caffeine-fuelled rampage. Somewhere, a committee is still congratulating itself on this policy. High-fives all round. “We’ve protected society, lads. Stand down.” This is the same country that brought us Think 25. A system so effective it treats a 50-year-old like a rebellious sixth former while charging them £145 for chicken and broccoli. And yes — I’m ranting about Asda — but let’s not kid ourselves. They’re all at it. Different logos, same nonsense. High prices, empty shelves, managerial theatre, and a creeping sense that the customer is an inconvenience who should just shut up and tap their card. How about this radical idea: Less virtue-signalling. Less nanny-state bollocks. Less treating grown adults like unstable toddlers. And maybe — just maybe — fair prices, stocked shelves, and a bit of common sense. But what do I know? I’m just the bloke paying through the nose for the privilege of being mildly insulted by a barcode scanner. Welcome to modern Britain. Bring lube

Here is a wonderful little story A young cashier told an older woman that she should bring her grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized, "We didn't have this green thing back in my day." The young clerk said, "Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." She gave him a firm stare and a hard grin and said “Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles, and beer bottles. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over. They were recycled. Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, which we reused for numerous things. We walked upstairs because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power did dry our clothes back in our day. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. The TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief, not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded-up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades with a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. Back then, people took a bus and kids rode their bikes instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles in space to find the nearest burger joint. But the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing.” The cashier stood there still and quiet as the old lady found her wallet to pay. Then lady turned to leave but stepped back and turned toward the cashier. She said “You have a world of knowledge in that little device in your hand. Pity you just use it to gossip, take pictures, and waste time. It would do you good to search a bit of history before you embarrass yourself like this again. Forward this to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart-ass young person.

.@X limits a @Conservatives politician’s post for ‘violent speech’ for saying Hamas ‘must be destroyed at all costs’. What the hell, @elonmusk? For the avoidance of doubt: Hamas is a terrorist organisation. It must be destroyed at all costs.
How is this violent speech? @elonmusk

Pleased to hear that there are plans ⁦@ScotParl⁩ to display a portrait of King Charles as Head of State. I hope that his late mother’s portrait will continue to be displayed too, given her great service to Scotland.

If you are not deeply concerned about this.. you should be. It is Orwellian what is happening in Scotland
Scotland, crucible of the British Enlightenment in the 18th century, enters a new Dark Age in the 21st century with a badly drafted, all-encompassing law which will have a chilling effect on free speech.

The amount of people leaving the queue in Greggs because their card machines are down & the staff are shouting "cash only"is unreal. If you're using electronic means to pay for something like a sausage roll, you're part of the reason why prices are high.

We'd love to chat with this girl, who yelled "Come on the intifada" yesterday. Like "#jihad", #intifada can have an innocent meaning. When "the intifada" is bellowed through a megaphone, targeting a group of #Jews, it sounds to us like incitement to kill Jews.

#activetravel is popular political rhetoric. While there are cycle lanes all over Glasgow for the tiny numbers who cycle the reality for the vastly greater number of us who walk is different. Newlands- blocked or inadequate drains, leaves not lifted. @MyGlasgowCC @Sean_Ferguson93 – at Glasgow, Scotland

Dear Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Lid, Aldi, Waitrose, Morrisons, and all other stores that have self checkout. You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. The lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already 🛒 filled my cart 🛒 emptied my cart 🛒 scanned the items 🛒refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me " as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you. • If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's vour problem not mine. • Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities. YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING. YOU DON'T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU. Signed ....All of us These are jobs that are needed to have for young and old
