#OnThisDay 1808, following Roliça a est 3,000 reinforcements landed by ship nr Porto Novo area. The landing was hazardous & some boats swept away. These brought much needed reinforcements before the battle of Vimeiro on the 21st August. (📸 Porto Novo today, source online 🇵🇹)
