Pastor @PhilipAMitchell is not wrong ⏬ The greatest threat to the American Church is the American pulpit. The pulpit is killing the American Church. The pulpit is killing the Church in the UK. The pulpit is killing the Church in cities and countries all around the world. The pulpit, guilty of watered-down preaching and false teaching, is killing the Church.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

Three immediate thoughts come to mind. First, this is awesome. Second, most people are terrible drivers and should not be entrusted with this technology. Third, I’m a good driver so I should have one.

Just because we complain about bad teachers, doesn't negate our knowledge of good teachers. We understand the "not all" argument. However, the number of good teachers will not save this corrupt, monolithic, soul-destroying, Education Industrial Complex.

DeSantis: Florida has retired 50% of its total debt from the last 180 years since he took office. By buying back bonds at a discount, the state cut interest costs now boasting the lowest per-capita debt in the U.S. “It's been beneficial for taxpayers.”

This simple method has helped untold numbers of homeschool parents to teach their children to read. It is easy. So easy that some people take a look and doubt its effectiveness. I taught my two boys to read with it. Contrary to popular wisdom, my boys were ready to read very early. We started this book around age 4, and they were reading very quickly. I did not teach handwriting at the same time because I figured out with my older kids that reading and writing are two very different skills and don’t need to be taught together. The 100 Easy Lessons isn’t a good fit for everyone, but it’s been a lifesaver for so many families. If you feel like phonics is overwhelming, try it: amzn.to/4iYw0nt Read my blog post on teaching children to read: nickitruesdell.com/teaching-…

Went to a new church in Austin this weekend: 750+ people. Mostly under age 35. Tons of high school students. Everyone looks happy, mostly fit, married. Faith is really the ultimate hack.
