I have just published an article in @altalawreview on mortgage enforcement proceedings in Alberta, with a focus on 2 statutory protections that are available to SOME homeowners -- (1) redemption periods & (2) protection from deficiency judgments. albertalawreview.com/index.p…

This article was such a joy to write! @HowieKislowicz & I consider how legal principles that have been developed by courts applying the oppression remedy to corporations (1) sometimes still work, & (2) sometimes need to be modified when resolving disputes in religious non-profits
Very happy to share this paper with the brilliant @AnnaJaneL, in which we consider the application of the corporate law oppression remedy to religious non-profits, forthcoming in the UBC L Rev. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…

The Edmonton Community Legal Centre is hiring an articling student & it's a position I am REALLY excited about, because we are trying something new! This student will work directly with ECLC's clients, but also with me, doing research on housing law (esp foreclosures)!
The ECLC is pleased to announce the following articling opportunity available for a student with an interest in poverty law and access to justice! Please see our posting for details and requirements: eclc.ca/articling-with-eclc/

My article on environmental liabilities in insolvency law was published in the University of Toronto Law Journal today! Anna Lund, "Elaborate imaginings: Rethinking environmental obligations in Canadian insolvency law" 71:3 UTLJ 301
I'm finishing some edits to a paper that will be coming out in the University of Toronto Law Journal w/ my thoughts on the SCC's decision in Redwater/Orphan Well. TL/DR: the SCC has good (doctrinal) reasons to treat environmental liabilities different than other debts.

The Edmonton Community Legal Centre is fundraising right now & I'd encourage ppl to consider supporting this org. It provides legal services to individuals living w/ low income, who are facing legal issues not covered by legal aid. Eg, evictions, foreclosure, family, immigration
It's the last day to donate to our Tip The Scales fundraiser! Help us fund our programs to support those who can't afford legal help! eclc.ca/tip-the-scales/

I’ve written a series of papers re: how people are treated under Canadian bankruptcy law when their financial difficulties are attributable to gambling - the most recent published last month in @ohlj. I’ve been thinking about how I became interested in this area. Here’s the story
