Here’s a novel thought: If the rich paid their fair share of taxes we wouldn’t need charity. Charity allows plutocrats instead of the public to determine what gets funded and how while using this “giving” to further reduce their already low tax burden.

1. 90% of Americans use the standard deduction and aren't able to deduct charitable contributions So, tax deductions for charitable giving is mostly for the wealthy. And the way that many wealthy people use the deduction has become increasingly divorced from its purpose 🧵
