Why women confuse men even when they openly say what they want? Because desires change. Why? People change. Why can we not predict it? Because no one fully understands their own desires. Why? We sometimes discover what we want along the way. So some not-knowing always remains.

I wonder what the world is going to look like a hundred years from now, what new inventions will arise, what kind of people will be walking earth, what their ambitions will be: what will be the things they call beautiful?

Using my own experience in 2015, let me show you how this @BBCAfrica article (and the others) can harm society.
In 2015, I wrote [wrongly] about the dangers of fluid boluses ( that rapid intravenous fluids for treatment). Three days later, three mothers in a hospital here in Nairobi were demanding that their critically ill children be unhooked from the life-saving intravenous fluids. By the time the Kenya Paediatric Association came around to sort it out, so much harm had been done by those few words.
For a newsjacking story (such as this one), a reporter would need, at the bare minimum:
1) Evidence of potential harm: There must have been a woman who used this product and was harmed. None of that was provided in any of the stories by the platforms that carried this, including @citizentvkenya.
2) Corroboration: An actual person with a face and name who used these allergy medicines for "vaginal tightening"; another person who saw the product and did not use it, and their reasons why.
3) Expert evidence: A health expert who has attended to people who misused this product; a pharmacist who has sold a lot of it and suspected it was being used for the wrong purpose. NONE of this was in those stories.
We need to go back to old-school journalism that lives by a simple rule of verification: you need to hear it, touch it, see it or smell it to claim it happened or exists.
Also, when @MOH_Kenya and @PSofKenya are forced to issue statements about cooked-up issues, very soon, bodies, once revered as sources of truth, will be treated as just another source of gossip. When the time comes for them to address deadly diseases like measles/Ebola and issues concerning vaccines, nobody will believe them.
Basically, journalists allowed accounts like @sholard_mancity to create non-existent problems and allowed misinformation to determine what they should cover. These accounts are now cooking up another bizarre tale about Panadol, and I assure you, there will be a headline about it.
Now, here is the sad thing. There's someone who will not see those rebuttals from the experts (just as the mothers did not see Dr Githanga's and Prof Grace Irimu's responses to my piece). They will only see the wrong information, and they may actually insert that allergy medicine into their vagina, with potentially serious health consequences.
Kenyan pharmacists have warned against inserting allergy tablets into the vagina after TikTok posts claimed they could make it "tighter".
Experts say the practice can cause injury and does not strengthen vaginal muscles. bbc.in/4iIz4lR

Eye contact means absolutely nothing in the realm of integrity. The biggest crooks will look you in the eye and tell you a whopper. It used to mean something, but that world is long gone.

Mood:
When I got laid off from Microsoft, I got into a company in Lagos that felt paying 600k naira a month was doing me a favour. I had to take the offer to keep body and soul together.
Was there for 6 months until I fell out with the MD and started looking out. That was when I started my training outfit but couldn't quite get traction.
Anyway, after leaving this NGO, I spent another 5 months in the wilderness, literally. Ate rejections almost every other day. Was living on the goodwill of friends and relations. Basically wondering what to get out of life.
An Antler rep came knocking at the time and was in the process of fast tracking my application to the Antler cohort at Kenya. Guess what? My passport had expired. Ran to go fast track my passport, after a few days emailed the partner but was told it was too late.
I remember laying in my room laughing hysterically, mulling to myself, "who I offend?"
Thankfully at that time, I applied to Andela and the process started for another 2 months. I got into Andela and my monthly salary was my previous annual salary. This trend continued in a subsequent company. Use am run one or two that year.
But the point is, while I was enjoying this new reality, I asked myself, "why did you worry all those times?" In hindsight, there was no reason to. I should have just chilled for 5 months, enjoyed myself.
But we are human and can only understand life in hindsight. As long as you believe this it will work out for you: EVERYTHING will turn out better than you expected, just stop worrying.

You do not suffer just from wanting things, you suffer when you think things must go your way. Gets worse when you worry about it before it happens then suffer again when it does. Peace is wanting things without depending on them for happiness.
