Researchers gave homeless people $750 per month for a year, no questions asked. The recipients spent the money on food, housing, transportation, clothing, and health care. And after six months, only 12% of those who received funds were still homeless. latimes.com/california/story…

Incredible! Empathy requires far fewer parameters than we normally assume.

A lot of respect for Alex's grit and determination.
“What would you do if you lost everything and had to start over?” Answer: The same thing I did when I actually lost everything and started over. Here’s how I made $100,000 in 30 days starting with only $1,000 to my name: 1) I reached out to local gym owners, since it was what I knew. But any small local business would work. 2) I asked them if how many clients they could handle without changing anything about their capacity. 3) I asked them if I could fill up that capacity for them. They wouldn’t have to do anything but let me. Zero work. Zero capital. Zero time. 4) But here was the deal: I would front the work. I’d work the leads. I’d close the sales. Then they’d have to deliver the package I sold them for free. But after that point, they’d have the entire LTV of a customer they got for free (or on COGS technically). 5) “I’ll fill your gym for free in 30 days” became the offer. 6) I had $1000 in my checking account and a credit card. I put the ads in my credit card and started calling leads. 7) The leads cost me $5. I’d close 1/5 on a $500 package. Getting me 25:1 return on ad spend. 8) I spent $1000 in the first 7 days. Made back $25,000. Then spent another $1000 per week after that. 9) At the end of the first month, I made $100,000 starting with only $1000 in my bank account. Having lost everything before, my answer isn’t hypothetical. It’s actually what I did to comeback from the dead (twice actually). And you can use this model for any brick and mortar business. Offer to do everything. Negotiate a rate they’ll deliver on. Market and sell. Make the spread. An operationally simple business. You get to make all the money of a business owner with fewer headaches. They get free customers. Win-win.

in the US 🇺🇸, everyone's first question is "what do you do for a living?" especially when you're dating outside the states, you can spend a whole day with someone without learning how they make money lesson in there...
Girls who spend like 30 minutes interrogating me about my job/income when first meeting is super annoying. Or am i just being insecure? This is of course American girls.

In the early 1990s, Brazilian photojournalist Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado was stationed in Rwanda to cover the genocide, an experience that left him traumatized. In 1994, upon returning to his home in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Sebastião hoped to find solace in the lush green forest of his childhood. Instead, he discovered that his home had transformed into a dusty, barren land stretching for miles, devoid of any wildlife. "The land was as sick as I was. Only about 0.5% of the land was covered in trees," he remarked. At this time, his wife, Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, proposed that they embark on the ambitious journey of replanting the entire forest. Sebastião supported the idea, and together, over the course of the next 20 years, they planted an astonishing 2.7 million trees. Their efforts resulted in the rejuvenation of 1,500 acres of rainforest, and the site eventually became home to 293 plant species, 172 bird species, and 33 animal species, some of which were on the brink of extinction.
