"Net Neutrality" was an idea created by an academic (who has since come up with many even worse ideas), and has always been a purely academic problem, completely untethered from consumer interests, economics, and reality. The rule was unnecessary and actively harmful.
One way the rule was harmful is that it would have stripped the @FTC of authority over Broadband Internet Service Providers. Reclassifying broadband as a common carrier excluded broadband providers from FTC jurisdiction. This despite the fact that FTC brought the single biggest "net neutrality" case (maybe the only real case) ever as a normal deception case against AT&T Mobility.
Anyhow, good riddence to a debate that has spanned my entire legal career and wasted millions of dollars and thousands of work hours in an attempt to solve a non-existent problem.

The Sony Walkman came out 45 years ago today. It would sell 200m units and ushered in age of personal consumer electronics (cellphone, iPod, iPhone).
An interesting detail is that Akio Morita — Sony’s legendary boss at the time — thought it would be too “anti-social” and instructed his team to build the first Walkman with two headphone jacks.
He was right about the anti-social aspect (people plugged in by themselves) but consumers clearly preferred the solo version.
