Great that the UK has applied the hugely successful model of the equal pay regime to the rental sector. Who needs markets to set prices when you have judges?

You have been found guilty of increasing rent in line with 'inflation'. This goes against everything Paddington Bear stands for.

Tapping the sign.
Marxists are legitimately religious people who think that if you read their holy texts earnestly, you immediately have to convert to their religion. If you don't, your inability to see God's light just makes you very dull. In the same way believers cannot accept anyone reading the Bible/Quran and not coming off convinced without a backhanded insult.
Every educated person knows who the gravedigger is supposed to be according to Marx and why. I was indirectly asking a meta question about why they're not digging the grave and why people like you are necessary.
But the "READ MARX!!1" tic is just too strong for the faithful, as if a certain Lenin didn't already feel forced to conclude the proletariat are never going to do the revolution on their own and that the vanguard is needed to nudge them into this direction.

Ah yes, the modern social contract
What started as a symbolic gesture, even a joke to be scoffed at, could become deadly serious.

I don't understand why Britain is compelled to rescue people that the French are not compelled to rescue. They're departing from France and traversing French territorial waters across half the distance travelled yet the 'only' recourse is bring them to England. Doesn't make sense
Immigration debate will go nowhere until we all come to terms with the fact that massive differences in living standards across the globe are not entirely random or in every case the result of an imposition or injustice, but are the results of varying levels of effort and ability

This is where the right has no strategic depth to its thinking. There is an case for foreign aid as part of a layered approach to foreign policy. There are two immediate tasks for any incoming government. The first is that the asylum system, as currently constituted, must be closed. The concept of refuge rests on the premise that wars eventually end, allowing refugees to return home once they do. To make that return realistic, refugees should ideally remain in neighbouring countries, since this both speeds up eventual repatriation and supports regional rebuilding once conditions allow it. Refuge should, as a rule, only be granted on the same continent as the conflict that produced it.
Where Western nations want to help, the more effective and more honest form of assistance is to fund orderly refuge systems in the regions themselves, preventing the kind of destabilisation that triggers secondary migration further afield. Sudan is likely to become another hotspot. Investment in peacekeeping, healthcare and clean water access does more to contain a conflict and support a displaced population than accepting a fraction of that population thousands of miles away.
That is the limit of any moral obligation, and it happens to align closely with our own self-interest. Western countries are not morally obliged to accept an open-ended number of refugees simply because a crisis exists somewhere in the world.
By conducting this kind of activity, Britain has a claim to moral leadership which strengthens its case of principled ECHR non-compliance (with much more aggressive border security employing lancer FPV drones to puncture dinghies in French waters). It doesn't require us to find any extra money since we just use the money we're currently spending on asylum.
This in my view is necessary even if the plan is to leave the ECHR (which is neither intelligent or necessary). If Britain is making the case that it does not need to be part of the ECHR in order to operate to higher standards then it actually has to be an exemplar. Britain is going to have to build up political and moral capital because something tells me, our foreign policy is going to require much bolder and aggressive moves as the global order begins to unravel.

See if the NHS didn't pay a wage, this was all voluntary and the people listed here were literally altruistic to max and just wanting to help the natives of this land, you might be making some kind of point.
But this is just paid employment.
And you could just pay our people to do these jobs.
I somehow doubt that the 201 Eritreans are doing work that no native could possibly do.
