Iron accumulates in the brain with age, and it tracks with brain degeneration. New study looked at brain tissue from healthy people aged 40 to 80 and from people with Alzheimer's and ALS. Damage from a protein called TDP-43 showed up as early as the 40s, and hippocampal involvement went up 4.5-fold after age 60. Ferritin, the iron storage protein, strongly predicted how much of that damage was there. Association, but agrees with what we know about iron and neurodegeneration. doi.org/10.1186/s40478-026-0…

George Lucas didn’t have the balls to tell the actually compelling story here: Padme really was going to die during pregnancy, the Dark Side really is stronger, Anakin becomes a Sith to save her and his children, and he does save them, but after learning of the terrible things he’s done (younglings), she kills herself. That’s a story. Shakespearean. Like Hamlet’s Ophelia. In that version, Anakin had to become Vader for Luke to be born, so that together they could overthrow the Emperor. Suddenly everything falls into place. Instead Lucas has to tell the boring black-and-white version where Palpatine was just lying and there was actually no point whatsoever in Anakin becoming a Sith and Padme just spontaneously evaporates.
Quick Padme rant now that the prequels are trending again. One of the things that bothers me most about Padme and also incidentally exemplifies how she really does fit the progressive, longhoused girlfriend meme is her death. A lot of people simplify her death into "Oh Anakin killed her." To be clear, he did not kill her. The movie explicitly states she was physically fine but died of a broken heart. So this woman has 2 newborn children, but she is so heartbroken over Anakin rejecting the Republic and going to the darkside that she can't even summon the will to live to raise her own babies. Madness. Insanity. Perfect illustration of the liberal adherence to ideology over family.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

In July 2025 a 68-year-old man named Domingo was walking near the cemetery in Torre Pacheco, a Murcia town of ~40,000, of which ~1/3 are of foreign origin, many North African and employed in local agriculture. Three young men brutally attacked him, threw him down and beat him; he said they spoke a language he did not understand and took nothing. A photo of Domingo’s bruised face spread both online and across all major outlets. Over the following nights outsiders arrived in Torre Pacheco, some hooded and carrying batons or bottles; ‘fiery but mostly peaceful riots’ ensued. Spanish police reported 14 arrests in total incl. three of the original assailants. The main culprit in the beating of the pensioner, 19-year-old Issam B., was arrested in Rentería (Vascongadas) while trying to leave for France. A judge released him with conditions: no contact with the victim, a ban on living in Torre Pacheco (he was not a resident thereof), and weekly court appearances. He was separately sentenced to one year in prison (later suspended) for… yep, you guessed it: an attempted robbery with violence against another elderly man in the same town days earlier.

BREAKING NEWS: I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the United States permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland, completely addressing ALL of our many U.S. concerns. There will be NO COST to the United States! At my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland, and the United States of America. Additionally, from now on, no U.S. adversary can EVER have a base in Greenland, have a military presence in Greenland, or make sensitive investments in Greenland, without our express written approval. For over 100 years, Presidents have known the strategic importance of Greenland, but NONE of them were able to do anything about it. I am proud to be the President that permanently and conclusively addressed this very important situation. This is an “Infinite Life” Agreement, there is no end! We are very honored and proud of what has just taken place, and everything agreed to today will be cherished by the American People. We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many. We will work with the people of Greenland in its development and construction. This solution is a great one for the United States of America, Denmark, Greenland, and all of our Allies. We look forward to working with the wonderful people of Denmark and Greenland toward a magnificent future with respect to this large, and highly strategic, parcel of land. We will be very protective of it! This is a dream come true for the United States of America, one that is very important, historic, and special. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Salazar's Portugal is usually filed under fascism and forgotten. Oscar Ferreira's L'Universitaire au pouvoir argues it belongs elsewhere: a cathedocracy. Félix Gonçalves explores what a state built by law professors looks like, and where those professors went when it fell in 1974. Link below:

Methionine restriction (MR)-induced sulfur deficiency accelerates tumor growth in mice Separately, UK Biobank data showed that low protein diets, a proxy for MR, is associated with increased cancer risk. Low protein was defined as <1.0 g/kg, high as >1.6 g/kg. MR has been studied for decades since it was discovered that it increases lifespan in mice, and it's been advocated for humans. The finding that it's associated with increased cancer risk puts a different spin on it. Low protein is also associated with muscle loss, frailty, and increased mortality. So don't fail to get adequate protein. MR can be mimicked through glycine supplementation, which appears to have none of the drawbacks of MR.

This is absolutely huge. @OpenAI says its new internal AI system has produced a solution to the Navier–Stokes problem, one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems, using a swarm of roughly 10,000 coordinated agents working concurrently. Agent swarms are the next big thing in AI. Instead of relying on a single model to find the answer, thousands of agents can explore different approaches in parallel, communicate their findings, cross-pollinate ideas, and converge on breakthroughs. This is what happens when intelligence becomes a massively parallel research process. We are entering a completely new era of AI-driven science. 🚀

"So the message, in summary, has been: Don’t you dare vote for the AfD because voting for the AfD might actually work. If you vote for them the left will get really pissed off and do some rioting, also a lot of bad economic things might happen for vague reasons we just pulled out of our asses."

There is a book about this. It's called The Eggs Benedict Option and I wrote it in 2022. Here's Henry Cavill reading the preface, in which I talk about Plato's Republic, and a 2300-year-old idea that society can be controlled by restricting access to meat.
None of this is coincidental. It was decided, at a high level, that white people in general and Americans in particular ate too much meat. The public reason for this is that meat is 'bad for the planet' and 'unhealthy', but the actual reason is what tyrants have understood since the bronze age: meat-rich diets produce tall, strong, healthy humans who are intrinsically harder to dominate. A multipronged policy approach was implemented. Propaganda: promotion of veganism and 'plant-based diets' as 'healthy' and 'ethical', demonization of animal husbandry as bad for environment, a waste of calories and water, a source of methane. Gradual implementation of 'meatless Mondays' at school cafeterias (which will expand until students only get meat on Friday, and then not at all). And regulatory: changes to land use, processing and packaging, etc. in order to steadily raise the price of beef, gradually turning it into an unaffordable luxury. This isn't unique to the US. Precisely the same thing has happened in Canada. It's being pushed in the UK and in Europe. All of this is coming from the same people who decided that we were going to live in a smoke free world, whether anyone wanted to or not, and they are following a very similar multi-pronged, incrementalist playbook. There's already talk of extra taxes on meat, and in Amsterdam it is now illegal to advertise meat products (just like they banned the promotion of tobacco). The smoking ban has been an observable success: it took less than a generation for indoor smoking to go from a normal and unremarkable thing that most people didn't care about because it had just been a feature of life for the last several centuries, to an unthinkable faux pas. I mention this connection to emphasize to you that they will absolutely succeed in their goal to force us all into a cow-like herbivore existence unless the people doing this - globalist NGO types and so on - are forcibly removed from power.
