I'm an only child, and "only child syndrome" has nothing to do with this situation. Here’s my hot take on what’s really happening:
Everyone keeps trying to talk to him, but they are completely missing the point. For a 17-year-old, constant negativity and saying "life is not good" is code for deep-rooted struggles like loneliness, hopelessness etc. He keeps complaining because his actual pain is being ignored rather than heard and validated.
