I’m feeling MUCH more confident about The Expanse: Osiris Reborn now. We finally have evidence that: - Lang Belta is properly in the game! - Original linguist Nick Farmer helped make sure it was accurate - Belters switch between English & Creole naturally - Your origin changes what you understand & how people treat you - Ceres actually feels like Ceres - Owlcat isn't shying away from nudity, sex workers, or darker themes - This is starting to feel like The Expanse, not just an RPG wearing its skin. Beltalowda! Im ta nating without imalowda! 👊 Full Breakdown here: youtu.be/5a22OKSnbQA

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Squadron 42 might actually pull this off.. AND.. It's actually releasing soon. After 13+ years of development, we've finally been allowed to play it and feedback is positive. - Mass Effect-style crew and storytelling - Wing Commander space combat - Ship customization - FPS combat - Dynamic destruction - A frankly irresponsible Hollywood cast - 40+ hour single-player campaign. Evidence is mounting that the Q2 2027 release might be the one. It's feature complete, people have played and enjoyed it, and it has it's own Steam page. 🎥 Full Dantics Investigation is up now: youtu.be/eJPr576zoxA

Reminder that Mass Effect 2 rewards you for actually paying attention to your companions and I desperately want more RPGs to trust the player like this. At one point, Mordin tells Shepard: "Hold the line! Personally prefer to get job done and go home." It's a throwaway line, only uttered if you dive a little deeper into his history. But it tells you something important about him. When you reach the Suicide Mission. Someone needs to Hold the Line. And Mordin is one of the WORST squadmates you can leave behind to do it. The game doesn't flash up: "MORDIN DOESN'T DO WELL HOLDING LINES - DON'T PICK HIM." It spent the entire game teaching you who these people are. and you were rewarded for paying attention.

I've never gone from "What's this?" to "Yep. SOLD." faster than watching the Squadron 42 trailer. This looks like someone took Mass Effect, Wing Commander, and a blockbuster Hollywood sci-fi movie, threw an obscene amount of money at it. · Massive narrative-focused single-player space adventure. · Mark Hamill as your grumpy old superior officer. · Gary Oldman as the Admiral trying to save humanity. · Andy Serkis as the terrifying alien trying to ruin his day. · The Onion Knight himself, Liam Cunningham, looking ridiculously dapper. · Oh, and Henry Cavill is casually in it too. · Pilot / customize your own ships and fight on the ground. · Proper cinematic military sci-fi vibes. · A huge cast of characters who actually look, sound and behave like real people. I'm in. Let's just hope it's done on time😉@CloudImperium
Wishlist Squadron 42 Now: bit.ly/47KwKpb The United Empire of Earth stands on the brink of collapse as threats both human and alien emerge from the darkest reaches of space. Enlist as a rookie pilot and fight for humanity's future in a cinematic, single-player space adventure. Launches Q2 2027.

One thing I desperately want from modern RPGs: STOP MAKING EVERY COMPANION NICE. Give me assholes. Give me people who disagree with me. Give me companions who leave. Give me romances I can completely fuck up. Give me characters I genuinely hate.. and let me be nasty to them too. Friendship should feel earned - not automatic, and personalities should be as varied as the environments.

Mass Effect fans have been waiting YEARS for another great cinematic sci-fi RPG. Now suddenly we have: EXODUS & THE EXPANSE: OSIRIS REBORN I don't want one to "win." I want BOTH to be incredible so developers realise there's a massive audience for these games again...

Reminder that they were THIS CLOSE --> <-- To giving Shepard different SPRINT ANIMATIONS based on your Paragon and Renegade alignment! DIFFERENT. SPRINT. ANIMATIONS. Something 99% of players would never even notice. This is why we’re still talking about Mass Effect decades later.

I just want to make it clear since I'm being called names by those who I probably should have explained more clearly to. 99% of players won't notice only because 99% of people who played the game never played as both Paragon and Renegade, therefore they can't compare the different sprint animations.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has a deeper companion system than Mass Effect. And I don't say that lightly. Your companions aren't locked into a predetermined combat role - and you can build your self around commanding them. Weapons, gadgets AND subsystems can all be upgraded within their own skill trees. They can be equip to you, and they can be equipped to your companions. Find an SMG that reduces gadget cooldowns on kills? Give it to your gadget-focused companion and let them spam abilities. What abilities? Attaching gadgets customizes what they have access to. Give a combat-focused companion a combat shield gadget, and a weapon that regenerates armor to start building them into a tank. And they STILL retain their unique abilities and ways of interacting with the environment. Yes, you can order your squad to uniquely exploit the environment. Jay can precision target explosives, and Alisha can hack electronics. So your companions feel part of the world. Enemies react to them, they can draw aggression, and you can build your character around commanding your squad to do all the damage. You're not just choosing which companions to bring. You're building them.

Star Wars Zero Company on Expert Mode is already a serious challenge. Add Beskar Mode? Now there’s no reloading a save when things go horribly wrong. But apparently, that wasn’t enough for me. So I added one more rule: NO INJURIES. Not one. If anyone gets injured, I restart the entire game from scratch. Can I actually pull it off? Watch here 👇 youtu.be/ROcveUchjcA

EXODUS romances are WAY more involved than I expected. Some of the biggest details revealed: • You can pursue multiple romances at the same time - but your partners may eventually clash over it. • Romance is tied into the affinity system. Taking someone's side or siding with another lover can change how they feel about you. • Romanceable characters are player-sexual, so your protagonist's sex doesn't lock you out of them. • You initiate the romance. Characters won't just start throwing themselves at you if you haven't shown interest. • There are even romance opportunities outside your companions, hidden throughout the game. • Your relationships can actually change how parts of the story play out and unlock content. • Time dilation affects relationships. Leave someone behind and years or even decades could pass for them while you're away. • And perhaps the biggest tease: marriage, family and heirs are tied into building your dynasty and carrying on its legacy. This is sounding less like a traditional RPG romance system and more like something that's actually woven into the entire story of Exodus. Find out more here: youtu.be/h2orWCweVeo

One thing that REALLY surprised me while playing Exodus was just how packed the levels are with secrets. One area took me 90 minutes to complete. Someone else finished the exact same area in under 30. The difference? I couldn't stop exploring the Hidden paths, secret areas, and things completely off the main route… there is a LOT to find.

Each companion in Exodus felt part of your builld. They have three core abilities: • An Exploration ability that can unlock unique pathways during missions • A Combat ability that operates on a cooldown • An Ultimate that charges as you build Adrenaline What’s interesting is the synergy between them. Each companion appears to have a way to apply a status effect (Blind in Salt’s case) and another ability that can detonate a status effect through Catalyst (Cascading Death). It feels very similar to Mass Effect’s combo system, where setting up and detonating effects was a huge part of squad combat. Companions also have their own upgrade trees, allowing you to improve both their abilities and Ultimate as they level up. But here’s an interesting detail: companions have both a Biological Age and Chronological Age. That could mean your companions will actually age while you’re away experiencing time dilation - potentially returning years or even decades later to find them much older. Salt, for example, is biologically 5 but chronologically 30. Elise being a sleeper from Earth is chronologically a dinosaur.
