Congrats to Nicole Petcka at #SESC 2025 presenting Emory Patient-reported Outcome Measures data in Sleeve Gastrectomy patients showing transient increase in satiety in the early postoperative period. More PROMs research is needed! @DannyMouMD @EdLinEmory @EmorySurgery @ASMBS

Our work @EmorySurgery shows how patients experience long-term eating-related symptoms after #bariatricsurgery. How will this compare with #GLP1 agonists? >81% survey compliance. Full-text access rdcu.be/dK6T9 @EdLinEmory @ehechenbleikner @WashUSurgery @SAGES_Updates

#RCT comparing #RYGB and #LSG shows at 3-year postop, RYGB is better in weight-related QOL, reflux, weight loss, DM2 remission. No difference in abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea, dumping, & depression and binge eating. This info should be included in the preop consent

This is comforting to know for days when I don't feel I'm optimized for efficiency. Helps get rid of some of the guilt!
Public service announcement for managers and coaches: you can't judge effort by results. Inconsistent performance doesn't mean people aren't trying their best. It often means they're doing their best in the face of turbulence. In humans, variability is a feature, not a bug.

This is some of the most compelling evidence that closing mesenteric defects in RYGB reduces SBO-related surgery up to 10 years postop. Very curious to see if this significantly changes surgeons' practices
In this randomized clinical trial, closure of mesenteric defects during LRYGB surgery effectively reduced the long-term risk for small bowel obstruction. ja.ma/3NJe52K @ErikStenberg_MD

How often do you see an #RCT in Surgery? Congrats to @EHechenbleikner and @EmorySurgery for showing that the use of suction calibration system does not reduce stapler load firings or OR time when compared to use of EGD for sleeve calibration @EdLinEmory link.springer.com/article/10…
