The most important thing Americans have forgotten is that our Revolution wasn't fought against the British to establish a better government.
America was founded to establish freedom from all governments.
People have come to America, from every other country on earth, for freedom: to pursue their own happiness, to worship their own God, and to escape tyranny.
That dream, the dream of America as a place where the individual was sovereign died slowly... and then... with the beginning of the American Empire (called the Civil War today) it has been erased from memory. Most Americans have no idea that entire purpose of our country was to make sure that the government had to leave you alone; not so that the latest elected buffoon could promise you $5,000 that he first stole from another citizen.
You have God given, inalienable rights. You have a right to your property. You have a right to your body. You have the right to say what you want, to associate with whom you choose, to arm yourself and to protect yourself, to be free from unreasonable searches or seizures, to a jury of your (actual) peers... and... most importantly... all power that's not explicitly granted to the Federal government is reserved for the States and the people.
They have forgotten that, completely.
It's time to remind them.
We shouldn't fear them; they should fear us.

Does robotics need more crazy designs like this?

I was asked, how do I manage stress from economic shocks, geopolitical shocks, and all the things that are going on?
While my typical approaches like "pain plus reflection equals progress" and meditation are highly effective, I’ll pass along another principle that I think is the best advice: The Serenity Prayer.
I view this almost like a game. These macro things are happening, but there are also a lot of joyous things and choices that exist with us. It’s really up to me to navigate them.
What can I control that's really important to me? What can't I control? I can't live forever, so I’m not going to get stressed out about that. But on the other hand, I can control certain things. Having that equanimity allows me to approach life in a way where I don't get hijacked.
It is logical, real, and practical. Look around you. You’ve got wonderful things and things you aspire to. Don't get so attached. If you navigate your life well, you're going to be fine.

The Inflation Disconnect: Why Purchasing Power Continues to Decline
Financial headlines are celebrating lower inflation numbers, but the underlying data exposes a much harsher economic reality:
• Trimmed Mean PCE (2.4%): Strips away volatile price spikes, allowing the Fed to claim they hit their new 2.9% target.
• Core PCE (3.4%): The Fed's traditional favorite metric is still sitting at a near three-year high. Prices aren't going down; they're just climbing slower.
• M2 Money Supply Growth (7.5%): The true volume of money circulating has accelerated to an annualized 7.5%.
The Wealth Gap Equation:
U.S. wage growth is only pacing at 3.4%. If your income grows at 3.4% while the true supply of money expands at 7.5%, your purchasing power is actively shrinking. This is exactly why families are falling further behind.
Don't just watch the headlines—keep your eyes on the money supply.

Taiwan solved tax evasion in 1951 with a trick so cheap it should embarrass every tax authority on the planet.
The problem was an all-cash economy full of small shops. A merchant pockets the cash, skips the receipt, and the sale never existed. Auditors can't catch what was never recorded, and hiring enough of them to watch every noodle stand costs more than the missing tax.
So finance chief Ren Xianqun flipped the incentive. Print a lottery number on every receipt. Draw winners every two months on live TV. Top prize today: NT$10 million, about $310K.
Suddenly the customer and the shopkeeper want opposite things. The merchant wants the sale off the books. The customer wants the ticket. And there are millions more customers than merchants. Every transaction now carries a built-in witness demanding the paper trail.
Year one, reported tax revenue jumped 75%, from NT$29 million to NT$51 million. Seventy-five years later, roughly 70% of Taiwanese still play. Convenience stores redeem the smallest NT$200 prizes at the register, so even a coffee receipt feels like a scratch card.
The elegant part is what the audit force costs. The prize pool runs about NT$7 billion a year, roughly $20 million. In exchange, the government gets 23 million unpaid auditors working every checkout line in the country, forever. No inspector general on earth delivers that coverage at that price.
Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Slovakia all copied it. The most effective compliance tool ever built looks like a game, and that's exactly why it works.
In order to prevent stores from evading taxes, every receipt in Taiwan is automatically a lottery ticket, too, which can win up to $300k, turning customers into voluntary tax auditors:

College has become the most expensive lottery ticket in America.
- $180k all in
- 4 years of not earning money
- 25 of paying back the debt if you borrowed to get there
At least scratch tickets tell you upfront it's a gamble...
