I don't post on Twitter as much as I used to, but for a while I've been thinking a username update is due. Still love the automotive industry but railways and trains are where my passion really lies these days.

New by @GazTheJourno and I: Bedbugs have been spotted infesting Southeastern services between East Sussex and London over the last 10 or so days. A number of trains have had carriages locked out of use, some cancellations and quite a few short-formations this week.

I'm just a bloke that likes snooker so I was very pleasantly surprised when Nick - one of the sport's top scribes - asked me to appear on his podcast to ramble on about my love of the game and my experience in Wuhan in particular. Really enjoyed the chat.
Radio Snooker with Nick Metcalfe is back on the air, and I've been joined by the travel journalist Daniel Puddicombe. Daniel talks to me at length about his extensive experience of attending snooker events, including this year in China. open.spotify.com/episode/2XH… #RadioSnooker

Back in February, I spent a night on the world's fastest sleeper train: G897 covers the 1,500 miles between Beijing and Hong in just over 10 hours. I've written about the experience for The Times: thetimes.com/travel/destinat…

This documentary by UP going behind the scenes of 'Big Boy' No.4014's historic coast to coast tour is well worth a watch. Fascinating to hear from the people that made it possible with previously unseen footage. Still have to pinch myself I had a cab ride youtube.com/watch?v=szQ3_6rn…

I was in Norway over the weekend and for reasons unknown trains display how many metres above sea level stations are?

The journey I did yesterday could only be possible in China. I was in Wuhan but I’d booked onto a tourist train that left Beijing, 760 miles away, at 1pm. G340 took me to the capital in 3h55m, a metro transfer later and I had plenty of time to board. High speed rail rocks.

This was something else to watch live. One of the best clearances I’ve seen given the circumstances and pressure involved. Take a bow Chang. #WuhanOpen
WHAT A WAY TO WIN YOUR FIRST RANKING TITLE!!! 🏆 Chang Bingyu produces an ALL-TIMER of a clearance to beat soon-to-be world number one Zhao Xintong 10-7 and win the #WuhanOpen! Surely the first title of many for the 24-year-old?

I’ll be honest, I thought the atmosphere was a bit flat this afternoon. Definitely not the case tonight. Decent crowd size and just the right level of encouragement / cheering / clapping, with a fair few oohs and aahs thrown in. Good stuff. #wuhanopen #147sf

Those last few pots from Chang were brilliant. What a way to seal his first ever ranking title. #WuhanOpen

At the World Billiards Museum in Yushan this afternoon. I wonder how long this photo will remain in place in its current form….

In all seriousness, it is a very good museum and well worth a visit if you’re in the area. A large focus on the Chinese elements of the sport as you’d expect but a good world overview, too.
