Grateful to our Canadian friends for reminding Moscow that there is no impunity on ice.
Moscow still believes it can hide its crimes behind a hockey jersey and that an ice rink can restore its battered reputation.
Russia’s constant and deliberate attacks on Ukraine make headlines every day, reminding the world why international tournaments cannot become a back door for Moscow’s return to global respectability.
Canada has shown how to keep that back door firmly shut, including through concrete visa measures. The puck is now in the other hockey nations’ zone and we call on them to follow Canada’s lead.
Special thanks to Minister @AnitaAnandMP, Minister Lena Metlege Diab, and @Adamvankoeverden for their principled stance and leadership.

Canada’s future will be shaped by the international partnerships we build now.
From Montréal to Atlanta and now Antigua and Barbuda, this has been a consequential week for Canadian diplomacy. Across every engagement, our focus remains on strengthening our sovereignty, deepening trusted partnerships and building an economy that can withstand global uncertainty.
That is how we give Canada greater freedom to chart its own course and create lasting prosperity for Canadians.

Today, I spoke with Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister @VarsenAghShanin, about developments in the West Bank and the broader situation facing Palestinians. I reiterated Canada’s disappointment with the postponement of Palestinian legislative and presidential elections, and stressed the importance of a clear path forward on democratic accountability and meaningful reform.
We also discussed continued violence and restrictions in the West Bank, including the rise in settler violence, and the importance of ensuring humanitarian assistance reaches Palestinians in need.
Canada will continue to support efforts to advance peace, stability and security for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Over two days at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, we advanced Canada’s priorities on global security and economic resilience.
✅ Called for collective action to address geopolitical instability, protect freedom of navigation and ensure food and energy are never weaponized. Diplomatic solutions must be grounded in international law.
✅ Highlighted Canada’s role as a reliable energy partner, working with partners to diversify energy supplies, protect critical infrastructure and advance secure, sustainable energy systems.
✅ Emphasized the importance of resilient supply chains to economic security. Through trade diversification and strategic partnerships, Canada is strengthening cooperation on critical minerals and emerging technologies, while taking action to combat forced labour.
Canada is committed to working with G20 partners to strengthen global supply chains, protect our shared interests and build a more secure and prosperous future.
