Successful start to the week with the first skate tagged in Courtmacsherry. Over the next 2 yrs we will be tracking its movements to identify residency within one of the last known refuges for this species in Ireland 🌊
🚨New paper 🚨 2 years ago I submitted my first licence to tag skates and rays to our governing committees in Ireland. I was surprised that there was no easy-to-reach guide for new/existing researchers 🤔 So I reached out to 15 experts, and we wrote one 🧵 doi.org/10.1007/s11160-024-0…

It's been a busy summer...! Two days searching at sea, and two days hiking the coastline later...Another flapper skate satellite tag recovered with @damien_haberlin 🏆 This data will help us unravel the movements of the largest skate in the world!
