In 1960, when Patrice Lumumba was under house arrest, Egypt was the only country to offer asylum to his family while they were being hunted by Mobutu’s forces. Three of his young children (François, Patrice Jr., and Juliana) were smuggled out of Leopoldville using Egyptian diplomatic cover, fake passports, and UN-linked Egyptian personnel. They were taken to Cairo and raised in the household of Egyptian diplomat Mohamed Abdel Aziz Ishak under the protection of President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
Nasser later sent a plane to rescue Lumumba’s widow Pauline Opango Lumumba and their remaining children.

The idea of Wiedel being against her own interests bc she’s a fash lesbian married to a Sri Lankan woman w adopted kids is wrong-headed. it’s totally consistent with the ideological position of the global right: money is speech so those who have money can live any way they want
I’m in Europe the next few weeks and there has been a lot of talk about Alice Wiedel.
She co-leads the AfD, an anti-immigrant, anti-LGBT German party, yet lives in Switzerland as a lesbian raising children with a foreign-born partner.
She may end up dictating the next generation of German policy from a position of utter and total hypocrisy.
The global far right is a clown show

🚨💥PROTESTS ERUPT IN GREECE 🇬🇷
GREECE IS PARALYZED; airports at a standstill, ports at a standstill, factories at a standstill, trains at a standstill, EVERYTHING IS AT A STANDSTILL.
The silence about it is strange. It's one of the biggest events.
THIS IS EPIC 💥🔥
All of Europe has been betrayed beyond all comprehension and now all of Europe is waking up fast, as shown by these massive protests in Greece 🔥
They won't show it to you in the Media. THE WORLD IS RISING. IT'S TIME TO RESIST 🔥SHARE everywhere... THIS IS HUGE 👇🔥

USA forhandler helt generelt ved at sætte modparten en pistol for brystet. Således også her. Så derfor kæmpes der fra Cuba over Venezuela til Grønland for at afværge de værst tænkelige scenarier for folkene i disse lande, skriver Lotte Rørtoft-Madsen.

I find this very true.
The radicalisation of the elderly in Uk is under everyone’s eyes. It is something way beyond the traditional “getting more conservative” with age.
My ex father in law has gone from being a moderate Tory in his 60s to a radicalised-Restore Britain-fanatic in his 80s. And I know his case is quite common.
He now lives in a social-media post-reality entirely built around fear, grievance and identity.
We obsess over young people’s exposure to social media, while overlooking an entire generation of elderly people who entered this world with no immune system against fake news and propaganda.
They spent their lives consuming information through institutions that filtered reality: newspapers, the BBC, television news.
Then the filters disappeared.
The algorithm arrived and suddenly an entire generation could be radicalised inside a reality designed specifically to frighten and enrage them.
We spend a lot of time worrying about young people being radicalised online. But perhaps we’ve been looking in the wrong direction.
I think Britain urgently needs to have a serious conversation about the radicalisation of our grandads one Facebook post, dodgy meme and furious comment section at a time.

The fates of Thomas Sankara and Salvador Allende revealed the brutal lesson Joseph Stalin understood: anti-imperialism without the ruthless suppression of imperialist networks within a country is merely a revolution waiting to be overthrown and its leaders assassinated.

Remember when the Panama Papers came out, revealed that all rich people in the world are part of enormous criminal network to dodge taxes and hoard stolen wealth in offshore accounts, and the journalist who reported was murdered by a car bomb, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that there are 3 million files of documented evidence about powerful men and women who raped, cannibalized, trafficked, filmed, terrorized, tortured, hunted, and murdered 13, 14, 15 year children, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that the United States literally kidnapped a sitting president of a foreign country and his wife and they’ve just been sitting in jail for the past 6 months, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that there are two genocides—one in Gaza and the other in Lebanon—and that there are arrest warrants for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that the US military bombed a school in Iran, killed 168 schoolgirls, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that there are hundreds of terrorist settlers terrorizing the West Bank and burning people's homes while families and children are asleep inside, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
Remember that the US is starving and killing babies in Cuba, blocking 7,000 containers of medicine, food, and power from reaching Cuba, and no one was held accountable, and literally nothing happened.
This is what will happen—and continue to happen—if we do not unite to enforce international law.
