Gareth might be the only person in the world who genuinely thinks £100 million for a 1km mesh tunnel to stop HS2 hitting some endangered bats is good value for money.
Replying to @GarethDennis
I worked near this thing when I was redesigning the HS2 alignment around Calvert... £100M for a complex, 1km-long structure is really good value!
One of the things that makes me most pessimistic about British politics is how many MPs now seem incapable of asking a question in parliament without having it written down word for word in front of them.

Yes to national service, as long as we make pensioners do it
One of the weirdest rarely-discussed elements of the Westminster system is how by drawing ministers from the Commons, we make ministerial roles into four day a week jobs.
It's insane that the foreign secretary normally needs to spend time each week worrying about planning issues in Little Sibdon-cum-Mendip and parking causing congestion outside the C of E school in West Marptree
The Cut has been on an absolutely incredible run the last few days. Just truly sensational discourse-generating content. 10/10 no notes.
What if you lied to your husband about where $50k went and then you got so deep into the lie that you had to write a Cut article on it and get dunked on
This is just... such a weird thing to sack someone for? Probably one of the weirdest social media-pressured firings? He just thinks having to read something in two languages makes driving harder?
Genuinely this is so odd.

It's interesting how this pattern is mirrored in America, where every big story somehow has an element where people get extremely mad at the New York Times.

There's nothing you can do to convince me this isn't a spoof account
