Last year in December, we lost the incredible Professor Anita Ghai. A foundational figure in Indian Critical Disability Studies, her work deeply shaped conversations about gender, identity, inclusion, power, culture, and activism.

Not easy raising/brainwashing a boy in Manchester as a #NFFC fan … especially during the lost years (when his mates at school didn’t know or care who we are).
Days like today, seasons like this season, make it all worthwhile ❤️

@DanGoodley hi Dan. Is there any chance you could repost the link to this survey I’m doing on disability employment please? Thanks for considering this 😊
Employment survey: I am doing research into the experiences of disabled people finding work. I'm focussing on people who, like me, have a physical impairment.
I would be grateful if you could consider participating in the survey, or sharing it with those who may. The survey link is below and further information is attached. Thank you cambridge.eu.qualtrics.com/j…

Prof. Anita Ghai passed away today morning. We are all shocked at this untimely demise of powerhouse of knowledge, activist, and a very dear friend.

What a loss. Anita Satyapal Ghai was an amazing advocate of disability rights both through her research as well as through her life lived with dignity & courage. I still remember her steering her wheelchair though a crowd protesting the Delhi gang rape exactly a dozen years ago

We deeply mourn the passing of Prof Anita Ghai, former Governing Body member of HAQ and a pioneer in disability rights and gender equity. Her legacy will continue to inspire us, and her compassionate leadership will be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones.

3/3 Today’s Online Disability Matters symposium sits with one of Anita’s greatest achievements: decentering disability studies. We send our love and respect to all Indian disability studies researchers and activists who will be mourning the loss of Prof Ghai. Rest in Power Anita.
