Uber finally left the market for Bolt and InDrive.
I have both apps- Bolt and InDrive.
And most times when I need a ride, I open both apps.
And go with the one that is closest to me.
But this is what I have discovered:
Bolt has crashed their price drastically, and almost below the minimum you can negotiate on InDrive.
This is now a battle.
A battle for wins for the riders.
If you check the case study I quoted, you will understand that these companies are failing to realize that they have two customers to satisfy:
The drivers and the riders.
Let me say something many of you won't quite agree with:
Many of these drivers are making losses from the business already.
Na lie abi?
Many of them now alternate between profitable days and days they make a loss.
And this is if you calculate profitability based on fuel consumption to the money generated that day.
But they are definitely running the business at a loss, when they factor in car breakdowns, servicing, and all.
Look at me...
All the drivers will wake up to reality and go back to running along, or look for other means.
Is this not a serious gap?
Drivers are not happy.
And I won't say passengers are happy, because the comfort that was advertised and promised is gone.
Or when last did you enter Bolt with AC or a clean car?
Bolt can make a U-turn.
Set price high...
Screen vehicles to standard, and do monthly vehicle checks, or so.
They can also reduce their commission.
With these, drivers would want to upgrade their cars, abandon other apps, and stay with them.
Do I need to say that drivers killed Uber?
Not riders.
It was when drivers refused to open the Uber app that Uber lost the game.
If not, riders were still opening the Uber app, but they wouldn't find any driver, or find a driver who is one hour away.
But let's see.
Let's see where the battle leads.
...
I'm The Mad Profit Guy.
Uber was the first to touch down in Nigeria. They were doing well... until Bolt caught wind of the opportunity.
Bolt studied the market closely, watched what Uber was doing, and more importantly, what Uber wasn’t doing.
Then they made their move.
But before we get to the game Bolt played, let’s look at Uber’s game:
Uber had two customers to satisfy: the passengers and the drivers.
But maybe without knowing, they started treating passengers as the real customers and drivers as just the workforce. In a way, they weren’t wrong. But they missed something critical.
Drivers began to complain about the commission cuts, about how little attention they were getting.
Still...
Uber kept their standards high. Clean cars, professional drivers, and screened vehicles with specific requirements.
It worked.
Back then, driving Uber was a status thing. If you were behind the wheel, you were somebody.
Everything ran smoothly.
Then Bolt entered.
They didn’t sneak in quietly at all. They showed up with a loudspeaker, offering lower cuts for drivers than Uber.
Drivers checked, downloaded both apps, and compared earnings.
You guessed right.
Bolt was treating them better.
And gradually, the drivers migrated.
Bolt, who came to share the market, ended up owning most of it.
But the game wasn’t over.
Then, Vroommmmm!
InDrive arrived.
They looked at Bolt and Uber... and undercut them both. Even better, they gave passengers and drivers a chance to negotiate, turning rides into a real marketplace.
Now it got messy.
And at one point, you’d open Bolt… and there’d be no drivers.
Why?
They were busy on InDrive.
Suddenly, all three companies weren’t fighting for passengers anymore. They were fighting for drivers.
And in that fight...
They all lost.
Today, a typical Bolt, Uber, or InDrive ride feels no different from a regular roadside taxi.
Except that you don't have someone choking you from the sides of the seats.
Don’t expect a working AC. Don’t wear white unless you want it stained.
The ultimate comfort is gone.
And look at something:
None of these companies is doing anything today that truly resonates with passengers, nor with the drivers.
Drivers show up in tattered and dirty clothes, looking unkempt.
People don’t open the app because they love the service anymore.
They open it because they have somewhere to go.
And it’s no longer which service do I enjoy...
It’s simply who’s closest to me.
That’s what a messy competition can do.
It lowers the standard for everyone.
Now imagine...
If Uber had taken a different path.
As Bolt dropped driver percentages, Uber could’ve gone up... Upped their standards, tightened vehicle requirements, introduced quarterly inspections. Kept only newer, cleaner cars.
Yes...
Maybe at a slightly higher price, but for a market segment that values comfort, that could’ve been a golden opportunity.
Remember also:
This isn’t a Western market, and it’s different here.
In Nigeria, many still see ride-hailing as a luxury or only a necessity when in a rush.
But there’s also a large group: car owners who don’t always want to drive. The elite, the rich, and corporate businesses who rely on these services for transport.
Imagine if one company had held that premium standard. Today, they’d dominate that space.
And now... if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve already learned a few things along the way.
But I’ll break them down clearly, one by one:
Competing on price alone is a race to the bottom.
Bolt dropped prices, InDrive dropped them further.
Now, nobody wins (they might be making profits, but value is gone). Compete on value, not just cost.
Standards set you apart, especially in a crowded market. If Uber had doubled down on car quality and experience, they could’ve owned the premium lane. There’s always a segment willing to pay for better.
React fast, but also think forward.
When new players enter, don’t just copy; strategize. Anticipate where the market is going, while considering your demographics.
In whatever, show your workforce they are your strength.

See You Again Next Time.

Even your deleted chat will be recovered, if need be.!
Just avoid anything that’ll put in you in trouble, especially in western society
I was in court yesterday, and one thing that stood out to me was how using Snapchat and other social media platforms can potentially get people into serious trouble.
In the case I witnessed, the defendant had met the victims on Snapchat. It was a reminder that our online interactions can have real-life consequences.
Please understand that your online conversations, messages, and other digital activities may be retrieved and used as evidence in court, depending on the circumstances and the data available. Do not assume that because a conversation took place on Snapchat, it is automatically private or impossible to recover.
If you are arrested or investigated for an offence, digital evidence may be used against you where it is relevant and lawfully obtained.
My message to our brothers is simple: think before you type, think before you send, and think before you act. Be mindful of the people you meet online, the conversations you engage in, and the decisions you make.
One careless decision online could have serious consequences for your freedom, reputation, family, and future.
This is not about fear; it is about awareness, responsibility, and protecting ourselves.
Let us be wise, stay safe, and think carefully before we do things we may later regret.

Sometimes, God’s greatest blessings come through the people He places in our lives. Not everyone who makes a difference comes with a big gesture; sometimes it’s a simple prayer, a kind word, or someone who never gives up on us. May we always have grateful hearts and never take genuine love and kindness for granted. Philippians 1:3
Take a moment today to appreciate someone who has been a blessing in your life. God bless you all!

This is a tortuous wrong of passing off. Item 7 go should sue. It is irrelevant whether the trademark is registered or not. All item 7 go has to do is to prove that:
1. The name and building has become distinctive to their brand and known by everyone in Nigeria.
2. The other brand has used this name and building to confuse the customers of item 7 go.
3. The use of the name and building would cause injury - actual and probable, to the goodwill of item 7 go.
The law of passing off exists to protect you from infringement where you have built a reputation of goodwill overtime.
How low is your self-esteem as a business owner that you have to copy another brand’s name, what they sell, and even the design of their building?
Item7 should consider taking this up legally.
There’s already a brand called “Item7 Go,” and you didn’t just copy the name; you copied their creativity too.
No be only “Item7 Move” 🤣

Bought one bread 2 weeks ago.
After eating it for 3 days, I lost interest because I felt it should already be spoiling.
By the time I picked it up on the 5th day to finally thrash it, it was still smelling very fresh.
Then I intentionally left it on the fridge to see when it would eventually spoil.
Was forced to thrash it this morning, and the thing has not spoiled.
Is this how bread is these days?
And are they healthy like that?
I am asking because I don't like bread and can go a whole year without eating it.
