Secret Path Week is a national movement commemorating the legacies of Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack. October 17 and 22, respectively, mark the dates that Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack joined the spirit world. DWF has used Secret Path and Chanie Wenjack’s story as a starting point to help support teachers in ensuring the next generation of Canadians learn not only the true history of residential schools, but the richness, strength, and diversity of Indigenous cultures. As a proud member of the Downie & Wenjack Fund’s Legacy Space Program, we are eager to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this very impactful week with communities across Canada. The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) is delighted to invite you to the Secret Path 10th Anniversary Concert – a special evening of music, reflection, connection, and celebration. For more information on this event and Secret Path Week, visit their website: downiewenjack.ca/our-work/se…

Bullying doesn’t end when the school bell rings or the workday is over. It can follow someone home, onto their screen, and into the private moments where they wonder if they belong. Today, we’re wearing purple to say: you matter, and you’re not alone. If you or someone you love is struggling, support is available. As we gather this Thanksgiving, we are reminded that gratitude can coexist with reflection, acknowledgment, and responsibility. Before European contact, Indigenous Peoples practiced traditions of gratitude rooted in respect for the land, nature, and community. However, mainstream Thanksgiving narratives often overlook the histories of colonization, displacement, violence, and loss of land experienced by Indigenous communities across Canada. This Thanksgiving, we encourage everyone to look beyond traditional celebrations and reflect on these histories, including the lasting impacts of residential schools on Survivors, their families, and future generations. May this weekend be an opportunity not only to give thanks, but also to listen and learn about Indigenous experiences, and reaffirm our collective responsibility toward meaningful reconciliation. Gratitude begins with awareness. Reconciliation requires action. #Thanksgiving #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousPeoples #Reconciliation #EveryChildMatters

Today is World Mental Health Day. Behind every statistic is a person with a story. When we listen to lived experience, we understand better, support better, and build a world where asking for help feels as normal as asking for directions. This year’s theme, Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change, reminds us that real change starts with listening not just to experts, but to the people living through challenges every day. At Dalton Associates, we believe every story deserves to be heard with compassion, without judgment, and without the need to make one's lived experiences more palatable for others. If you’re struggling, you don’t have to carry it alone. Visit our website for resources: daltonassociates.ca/

Yesterday was our annual Harvest Hike! Our staff and associates enjoyed a beautiful fall day outdoors. Surrounded by the stunning autumn landscapes of the Elora Gorge, we spent the day exploring scenic trails, taking in the vibrant colours of the season, and enjoying meaningful conversations along the way. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the importance of connection, community, and taking time to appreciate the world around us. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year's Harvest Hike such a memorable day. We are already looking forward to the next one!

This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) in Canada. Every year, during the first full week of October, communities across the country come together to talk openly about mental illness, challenge stigma, and remind people that support exists. MIAW is a public education campaign created to help bring awareness to the realities of mental illness. Originally established by the Canadian Psychiatric Association, it is now coordinated by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH). As a mental health organization, we support this initiative, and through our work, aim to reduce stigma and make mental health care more accessible. We believe that support for mental wellness should be compassionate, barrier-free, and without the burden of shame. If you're struggling, you don't have to figure it out alone. Visit our website for more resources and information on how we can help: daltonassociates.ca/ #MentalHealth #MentalIllnessAwareness #CanadianMentalHealth #MIAW2026

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to listen, learn, and reflect on the truths of the past and how they continue to shape the present. It is also a reminder that healing is an ongoing journey, one that requires understanding, compassion, and a commitment to meaningful action. At Dalton Associates, we recognize that mental health and wellness cannot be separated from history, identity, culture, and community. We acknowledge the resilience of Indigenous Peoples and the importance of creating spaces where stories are heard, cultures are respected, and healing is supported. Today, and every day, we encourage ourselves and our communities to deepen our understanding, engage in respectful dialogue, and take steps toward reconciliation. Anxiety doesn’t look the same for everyone. Understanding how it shows up for you can be an important first step toward managing it. Strategies such as grounding techniques, regular movement, healthy sleep routines, and talking with someone you trust can help. When anxiety feels difficult to manage on your own, professional support can also make a difference. Support is available. Gender equality is an important mental health issue. Discrimination, unequal access to opportunities and resources, gender-based violence, and systemic barriers can have profound impacts on mental health and well-being. These impacts can be compounded for people who experience multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination. This Gender Equality Week, we recognize that supporting mental health also means working toward a society where people of all genders are treated with dignity, have equitable access to care and support, and are empowered to thrive. Book your first session online today! Use our Find a Therapist tool for support that connects to your lived experience. #GenderEqualityWeek #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #Inclusion #PsychologicalSafety #DaltonAssociates
