The Ashe lab is hiring, please share and RT! We are looking for a postdoc to study how signalling filopodia collect and transduce the BMP signal to control cell fate. Check out our recent work on cytocensors here: cell.com/developmental-cell/…

The Ashe lab has two poster prize award winners at this year’s #BSDBGenSoc2021 conference 🎉 Congrats and well done to the PhD student prize runner up @DaisyJVinter and postdoc prize winner @Caro_Hoppe!
A great end to a wonderful conference week #bsdb #devbio
I'm excited to be giving a short talk at YEN 2021 on May 4th!
Finally, in our 3rd session we will learn about morphogenesis and patterning in different model organisms thanks to the talks from @DaisyJVinter @JustinaTYeung @Susie__McLaren and @zhumeng123 Don't miss them! 🪰🐟🐭
I absolutely loved @OttolineLeyser Waddington Medal talk at #BSDBGenSoc2021 ! Got me really inspired and excited about the joy of doing science.

Ever wondered how to image Drosophila ovaries live? We have a protocol for you from the talented @WilcocksonScott. His secret weapon is an eyelash on a stick and he uses a blood clot to immobilise the ovaries for imaging. star-protocols.cell.com/prot… @STARProtocols

Some people puzzled as to how to square AstraZeneca's 94% here with the 62% efficacy from trial data.
Simple: 62% was reduction in cases, 94% is reduction in hospital admissions.
Or in other words 62% reduction in being infected, vs 94% reduction in becoming seriously ill.
My first first author paper is out on biorxiv! Many lockdown hours were spent doing this. Thank you especially to @Caro_Hoppe, amazing post-doc, who helped me push this over the finish line when we were allowed back to the lab.
A new preprint from us! We use the SunTag system to image translation from single mRNAs in the Drosophila embryo and uncover translational regulation of the zygotic hunchback mRNA. Work by @DaisyJVinter, @Caro_Hoppe, Cath Sutcliffe, and @TomMinchington biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
