While Eric Schmitt won the election in 2022, he lost in his home county of St. Louis by 24 points. He also lost nearly every precinct in and around the town where he lives. It’s almost like the people who know him know not to vote for him.

Schmitt clearly leaked to right wing influencers that he was going to "catch" Jack Smith in a lie and destroy him on camera, so he could book interviews on their shows. Then when the "lie" turned out to be bad staff work, everyone just had to keep going with it.

Pretty big apparent misfire from GOP Sen. Eric Schmitt at today's Jack Smith hearing. Schmitt basically constructed a conspiracy theory about how Jack Smith was in Atlanta when Fani Willis's affair was revealed, saying Smith had attended an Atlanta Hawks game. Smith had no idea what he was talking about. After the text messages Schmitt's theory was based on were shown, Smith said it was a game between the U of Maryland and Iowa HAWKeyes -- in Maryland -- not the Atlanta HAWKS.
